Boston College Hockey Thread: Frozen once again

Re: Boston College Hockey Thread: Frozen once again

Almeida was once very hyped, but had a very, very serious injury his last year in preps or juniors, if I remember correctly. I believe it is just great he is still playing. Someone with a better memory/more direct involvement with BC can probably give more details.

Exploding glass bottle in his eye...here's what he said about it:

"It was a freak accident where glass went in my eye [a glass bottle in a bonfire exploded]. At first, you never know what's going to happen, but everything worked out great and everything worked for me. A lot of praying and everything helped me out, and my parents helped me get through it. I have to thank my parents getting me to this day, because if it wasn't for them pushing me, pushing me, pushing me, I wouldn't be where I am right now."

How proud are all of you to have such a well spoken young man represent BC hockey? Jerry's kids are amazing and such a credit to our school. So is the coach obviously, Thanks again Jerry.

I agree with everything you said, but I didn't realize the BC players had muscular dystrophy.

The Penrose is an automatic nominee thing - all the winners of conference coach of the year awards plus the head coaches of the Frozen Four participants.

Is anyone going to be in Detroit on Wednesday?? I'm too broke ($s and time on Thursday) to rent a car, but I really want to go to the Windsor Spitfires (see Kenny Ryan - the former BC player, not the former BC manager though that Kenny Ryan was in Worcester so always a possibility at Ford Field) at the Plymouth Whalers playoff game which is about a half hour away (in Michigan, so no border crossing to deal with). I could really use a ride!

(Lots of top prospects, both already drafted and expected to go high this year between the 2 teams - just mentioned Ryan as a BC connection)

The guy from RIT (Wayne Wilson) should be national COTY, 22-5-1 in conference, 28-11-1 and taking down two top-15 teams in the NCAA's.

<S>Wilson is listed as BGSU '84 - did he play for York?</s> Answered my own question. Wilson was York's captain in '84.

Great game today, guys. Hard fought and competitive to the end. It's always a treat (even if it eats at my soul) to watch Jerry York's teams compete and do well. He's a class coach, runs a class program, and deserves every amount of priase for the work he does at BC.

Good luck at the FF in Detroit.

PS. Where did all that Terrier in me go? :p

That Yale team was the best offensive teams I've seen in years. What a game to watch!

Re: Boston College Hockey Thread: Frozen once again

Does Kenny Ryan even count as a former BC player?

Last year, Yale was down 4-0 at Colgate with 14:45 to play...rallied to tie and win it in OT 5-4. They can score and score quickly. The Yale game was not done until the final buzzer was heard. Even when the game was 9-4, I was not feeling too comfortable due to their offensive ability.

Re: Boston College Hockey Thread: Frozen once again

whatever. Give me a ride to/from Plymouth and you can cheer for the Whalers.

STILL waiting for a good clip of Sneep's goal. :( Does anyone have video of it somewhere?

The only clip I've seen is from above - no cameras followed the puck from Sneep's stick to the goal - at least as far as I've seen.

I'd still like to see the live call of the goal, I hear they had no idea it even went in.
