Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

amazing Miami lost to them twice....................we need a good solid effort tomorrow, tight defense and better play in between the pipes. Muse made some nice saves friday but all 3 goals were of the soft/fluke variety

I wouldn't be surprised to see Milner between the pipes vs. Providence.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

yeah, i wouldn't be surprised if milner starts and i kind of expect it. seems york is putting him in a position to succeed by playing him in the "easier" games...........though nothing is easy for the eagles right now. i Am looking forward to it none the less as we need to get back on track and NEED 2 points in HE

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Muse needs to play. He's the #1, and after giving up a few tough goals against BU, he needs to get his confidence back before a big, big, big game on Friday night.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

little did we know that the game Friday night counted as the HE championship game and that the NCAA is has also decided to award the championship trophy to BU as well.

congrats on your two points, you guys won a couple in a row now? win one more and that's called a winning streak.. it has happened before. lots of squaking from fans of team whose coach was dumping on them two weeks ago and who still need a lot of help to even make the tourney this year

LOL. As defkit said, where is all the "squaking."

God forbid BU fans are able to get a little enjoyment in an otherwise dismal season with a win over their biggest rival in front of 38k at Fenway Park in a nationally televised game.

Come to think of it, this win is no better than a win against Merrimack. :)

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

I expect Muse to be in net tonight and I also expect a complete 60 minute effort from everyone. Time to show a sense of urgency...

I'll say BC wins 4-1.

the only chatter has been over at EA (and yes, i admit i go there to read what mav and pinhead have to saw about the team because for the most part it's honest and accurate. ..and now when they do come around here they are mostly social).

i almost feel bad for y'all with those football/basketball centric posters who get on the hockey team for no reason..... (almost :p ) "jack owns jerry"???? i read that at lunch today over at the pour house and almost choked my chicken i was laughing so hard:D :D

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Some line changes tonight.
The Price line remains intact, but here's the others...

J. Whitney/Gibbons/C. Atkinson
Kreider/Smith/Hayes
Carey/Mullane/S. Whitney

Gibbons line was dominant out there and put up 3 goals. The other lines look like they need some time to gel. Personally, I'd switch Kreider and Carey. I think a Carey/Smith/Hayes line could be quite good. The D was solid.

I doubt it will happen, but I'd like to see Milner get another start Friday night. I like his presence/quickness in net. Would like to see him against a good Maine team, or BU next week.

Hard to tell how good we were tonight, as PC was quite bad. I remember just a few years back when PC teams would come into Conte and fly up and down the ice. You earned any win you got against PC. This team... maybe it's the long holiday layoff, but I saw a big, very, very slow PC team on the ice tonight. Hardly D-1 caliber. I hope it's just the layoff and not that they are always this bad.
One, count 'em, ONE shot on goal in the first period. Gawdam.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Good game this Friday between BC and Maine. I think Maine will extend their unbeaten streak to 10 games with a victory with Maine playing their best hockey in two seasons. Maine is flying under the radar and will steal one against the eagles. 4-2 Maine.

You had one out of three right. The second period was kind of crap.

Maine is absolutely flying under the radar and is a scary team to play right now. Should be a thrilla!

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

I'm really excited for the Maine game. Friday night against a hot, marquee opponent - I'm thinking (hoping) Conte will fill up nicely.

It'd be really sweet to snap Maine's unbeaten streak and move up a few spots in the PWR.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

As long as goal tending is slightly above avg, BC will beat Maine. To fast for them

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Speaking of goaltending... some more softies got past Muse on Friday night at Fenway. I missed last night but it appears Milner played well and now he has a 5-1 record and the same save % percentage as Muse (both below .900 unfortunately). Milner doesn't seem to stand on his head like Muse can but seems to be a lot less likely to give up softies.

So...... ya see where I'm going with this?

Is Muse 100% yet?

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

i agree with that nick...........The one that beat milner trickled thru, he had a shot at it but that was during a time that PC was actually peppering him, and those times were few and far between but he was very solid and poised regardless. BC had 45 shots but turned down another 10-15 that they just try to get too pretty with , as usual, and end up with nothing. all in all, a good performance albeit against a struggling opponent. only 3100 in the building, some dressed as empty seats, but i think double that friday night at least.............or should i say I HOPE! some students should be back as well and Maine does travel so it should be fun!

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

I am glad to see that Conte security is ready to handle the Maine fans coming down from Maine (like gscott13 for instance).

A press release from TeamOps security stressing some old rules and also some new ones in place:

TeamOps Press Release
Jan 13, 2010

To: Conte Forum Patrons

- Reminder. Firearms are prohibited from campus entirely. If you have an old pickup truck with shotguns in your shotgun racks, you'll have to park them in Cleveland Circle.

- The use of chewing tobacco is not allowed inside Conte Forum. Side doors on the Beacon Street side will be open in intermission to allow you to use these tobacco products. Spitoons emblazoned with the Black Bear logo will be provided for your use free of charge.

- Reminder. As usual, you will not be allowed to bring in any food or drink into Conte as it would cut into BC's concessions profits. This includes fresh roadkill from the trip to Conte (concessions will not let you use their oven so don't try to sneak that dead squirrel or racoon in) and of course moonshine.

- If you think Maine didn't cheat in 1993 or haven't brushed your teeth since Shawn Walsh last coached, you will be denied entry at the gates.

- The word "hillbilly" is considered a slur and will not be tolerated. "Cheaters", however, is totally acceptable. While they may both be true, it doesn't make the first one ok.

- If you have unused tickets, please send them to the BC ticket office where they'll be donated. You can not bring in a "deer I just shot" to sit in the seat next to you just so you have someone to watch the game with.

- Maine fans will not be allowed to flush the toilets more than twice in one visit and will have a 2 minute time allowance at the sinks. While we fully condone proper hygiene, "taking a bath" in the Conte bathroom sinks is not the place to do it. We also need to allow other Maine fans that have a fascination with indoor plumbing to indulge in this pleasure as well as the other patrons that are used to living in a highly developed society that would like to get in and get out.

- Electrical outlets in the concourse will be turned off for this event. While we recognize that some folks would like to use them to charge a phone or laptop, we can not risk the liability of a Maine fan sticking their finger into the socket asking "what is this thing!?".

- Reminder. We take everyone's safety very seriously. Please be careful when taking your seats and walking through the concourse and watch for pucks when seated. We do not want to see anyone have their teeth (or tooth in many cases on Friday) damaged. We are highly sensitive to the large group of individuals that fear the dentist that will be in attendance at Conte on Friday night.

- The BC trophy case will also be guarded with more security to keep Maine fans from destroying BC property since the installation of a new sign provided by Pinhead Nation states "This is how you win a trophy without cheating!"

- If you see anyone resembling former Maine Black Bear hockey player Keith Johnson, notify the nearest security personnel immediately as we will be airing a video warning any parents of 14 year old girls of his presence upon confirmation of his attendance on the jumbotron. We ask that you do not sneak up on him and say "This is Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC" or yell out "Hey hovhoc1269" as that might scare him away and we'd like to check out the Amber Alerts list against anyone he may have in his company.

We hope you understand the changes in policies for this one night and we look forward to seeing you at Conte for the rest of the season with less restrictive policies once we get more normal visitors coming to watch their hockey team play BC.

Sincerely,

TeamOps

its not good to be keith
by stevef/nubobcat... with apologies to tom petty

Its not good to be keith, you'll meet girls on line
They'll say that they're 14, you'll say you don't mind,
You beg them to meet you, you tell them don't tell
Its not good to be keith, you're going to hell

That's reeeeeee-volting, what were you think-ing?
Can I help it if I, laugh since it was a guy?

It's not good to be keith, they take you away
get handcuffed by police at the end of the day
And when the gavel bangs and the jury yells guilty
You're going to prison, it's not good to be keith

Your fourteeeeeeen year old fling...20 yearsssss it brings
As the days pass on by, dream of escape time to time

Its not good to be keith, and have no more hope
Remember when showering, hold on to the soap
So If they still can't vote, and they can't buy smokes
Keith, Don't drive to meet them, it might be a hoax

Excuse me if I, hide my daughters away
When Umaine comes to play….

I don't know if Muse is 100% healthy or not - but I do know that despite Milner's record, I feel more confident with Muse in net against top opponents. Period. My confidence was sealed with the way he played against Denver. I know he gave up a softie, but he kept BC in that game.
