Boston College Eagles 🦅 2018-2019

Re: Boston College Eagles 🦅 2018-2019

Lofty expectations. Hopefully they can score some goals for the kid next year.

Got it. I've penciled in goose-eggs for both games against BC.

I'm thinking 1-0 and 0-0.

Probably 3-0 in the Beanpot. #Symmetry

Re: Boston College Eagles 🦅 2018-2019

Not unexpected. It's gotta be awfully tough having parents like that and peaking at like 9 years old. I feel bad for the kid.

School may or may not have been his thing. But given what I saw on the ice this season, a degree sure would have been a nice backup plan.

We NEED to keep Cotton to have any realistic chance of winning anything next year. But I don't get a good feeling there either.

Good luck to Ollie but he did not show too much. He has a good shot but was pretty much a straight line player, did show much ability to create open ice a la Hutsko. Too bad but he will be riding buses to games next year.

If Cotton stays, barring injury, he will have a Hobey type year. Big, strong on his skates, great reach and good hockey sense. Vesey stayed for his senior year and it worked out well for him, except he is playing for the Rangers.

The write up on this goalie reminds me of a game stealing goalie Maine had in Jimmy Howard 🎈in 2004 BC outshot Maine badly but Howard was a brick wall

A goalie like this can inspire a team to play great defense and if BC can generate a few goals a game who knows where this team goes next season

...Father does not see a winning program gets more income for the university when you go to good bowl games and NCAA tournaments...I have no reason to believe he even attends one game even from what I hear...His support is clearly lacking and short sighted

As an outsider looking in, this quote is troubling, to say the least. If the head of the institution isn't going to show interest (or at least pretend to) the bedrock elements of institutional support (think budget and other resources) aren't going to be there. By contrast, President Aoun over at NU has been known to occasionally show up, sit in the Doghouse, and even visit stinky sweaty locker rooms. Whatever his faults and foibles, Aoun "gets it" in terms of leveraging winning sports teams to enhance the university "brand" and ultimately broaden the donor base.

This is what I said when Bellows left BU. If your kid was getting free tuition at a place like BC or BU, and for the first time ever, his ability to earn millions or hundreds of thousands in the NHL may be in doubt, wouldn't you say "maybe we should stick with the NCAA route and make sure you at least get that degree". And if he totally turns things around during a second season, then great, Plan A is back on. Rather than turn your back on the degree, possibly end up playing in the AHL for 5 years and then realizing you're left with nothing and your bank account didn't get very big in the process. I assume Bellows family is wealthy given his dad's NHL career, I have no idea what the case is for Wahlstrom.

Keiffer went 11-6-17 in 64 games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Oooof.

Probably because he wasn't playing well, change of scenery thing

BC beat two of the teams in the FF in the last week of the season. Primeau stands on his head in the HE finals and then lays an egg in Providence. Just a mystifying season.

I think coaching is more important than ever right now in college hockey.

If you warched this team all season it’s not a mystery

Inconsistent and lack of offense and defensive breakdowns all year

The PK and PP was not good for the most part in many of their losses

Understood , I saw a lot of it, the mystery is why they were so inconsistent. The leadership did not seem to be there on a consistent basis. In Providence I think Hutsko just decided the season wasn't over and he was going to win those games. He did. I hope he comes back full bore next year.

I would have to agree York and his assistant coaches did not adjust well if any were made during a game or practices

Basically you saw the same thing almost from game to game

When you finish the season with only 11 wins and 21 losses and some ties it speaks volumes how things went

Hopefully Cotton comes back but it’s understandable if he bolts

Fresh start next year with new recruits and some veterans returning

Don’t know how much Brown leaving the coaching staff effected the bench but changes need to be made or else we get the same thing next year

What’s alarming 🚨also are the list of recruits leaving or decommitting to other programs that was mentioned by another poster

Disappointments include Milano and Tevonen (sorry if I misspelled his name) to name a couple who never reached campus

Unhappy players leaving the team

Let’s hope the bleeding is stopped and the program will turn around soon or else it’s time for JY to retire and hire an energetic and experienced coach that is the right fit for BC 🦅

Reminder for the BC admin and coaching staff:

ADAPT OR DIE.

Given the state of BC athletics, we should consider changing the motto to "Never to Excel" and change our eagle mascot to become a Dodo bird (if someone made a tshirt with this new updated logo I'd buy it tomorrow).

I think BC will be very good next season with Cotton returning and the incoming freshman. I expect Helleson will accelerate and join the team this season. The team will also be a year older that will help against 24-25 year old players most teams use.

Go Eagles!

I'm wondering if there will be any changes on the coaching staff with the way things went this past season which was horrendous
