Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread
Shortie by Whitney then mack answers 2-1
I thought the first MC goal was on Hayes, I thought he could have done a better job covering the man in the corner. He should have pounced on the guy making the centering pass for the goal. Next the defenseman in front didn't block the pass in front of the goalie which allowed the forward to put it in the empty side of the net.
The tying goal, what can you do if it's deflected in? BC had some chances in front but no goal scoring touch. If Kreider and Arnold don't score we're screwed with goal challenged team like BC right now. How many games now, where they only have 2 goals, (Lowell, Michigan, Michigan Tech, Merrimack, etc.)
Since someone mentioned Albers, I've noticed mistakes now when he pinches and gets beat, bad clearing passes from his own end, etc. Good thing Wey is back to add depth on the blue line.
Maybe they will peak later when it counts, but right now they're just an ordinary team and probably qualify in the NCAA but won't be surprised if they exit early with their lack of offense which forces the D and Goalie to play errorless hockey.
Watching them on offense at times, they overpass at times and not take the obvious shot. Hayes and Mullane need to score goals to help the team but I just don't see them producing right now. Hayes is just not a goal scorer and I hardly see him take a shot during the games I've seen. Often he'll dish or make that extra pass that does nothing to produce a goal. Maybe next year he'll produce but right now, he is down to the 3rd line center as a sophmore.
Today, they couldn't hit the side of the barn. I didn't see too many accurate shots from the point and 1 SOG in the 3rd period????
How does BU beat MC with their 2 top centers gone? That's how bad BC's offense is right now.
They're lucky to get the point today because of the disallowed goal and a Whitney SH goal proved important to salvage a point on their HOME ice. NU will win next week if they don't generate some offense as NU is playing well and beat some pretty good teams of late.
