BOSTON COLLEGE 2025 - 2026

Some very valid points, the Resendes penalty was bad, maybe top 10 but I have seen worse (McGinnis in the Beanpot against BU while on PP, in the offensive zone, ( interference) BC was leading in the third period and lost the game. Brainless. LC has been sketchy at best but overall the low compete level throughout the line up and the absence of goal scoring when at full strength has been pointed out by other posters. Saturday Rado was beaten to the puck for what would have been an icing by Hyracovian, he got a shot off big rebound and the trailer puts in the back of the net for the game winner. Rado is one of the most improved defensemen over the course of the year but that was just totally unacceptable. Props to Hyracovian but ....... Scoring woes in part are related to net front presence, there are three big guys, Gasseau Hemming and Latourneau, I am sure they have been told to get to the front of the net but so far it is not happening enough. It is the way you beat high end goalies like Hrabal and Zacker. Stiga, Moore, Sondreal, Hemming all need to show up for the their 25 minutes on the ice. Stiga is the biggest puzzle to me. High end player with terrific skills and presence on the ice but nothing comes of it. College hockey today doesn't lend itself to building a team, the high end players stay one or two years and then they are gone. (BU this year is another example) The whole draft thing is a little crazy, yes the 1st and 2nd rounders are likely to play in the bigs but after the 3rd round the percentage of players getting there drops off dramatically. Pro hockey has taken over the college game and it is not for the better. Everyone associated with the program needs do better and not dressing the slackers would be a good start but it is a little late this year. Besides Minnetian, Hagens and Gustaffson there isn't consistent leadership. Again where is Stiga ? It seems the formula for winning against BC is to shut down Hagens, stay out of the box and score first. They peaked at the BU week end and the Beanpot, props for winning that, but that was the end of trophy season. Some serious failures all around and this is one of the most disappointing seasons in a long time. However this is the start of the "put the sticks away season" and while is it hard to take the other team's sticks away they need to do it on Friday night. I think they will,

Fun Fact:
From the drop of the puck after the 5x5 Resendes goal scored on 2/20 against Yukon in Game 1 of that weekend series, BC has scored one 5x5 goal off their own stick (Jellvik vs BU). That is a span of 308 minutes and 31 seconds (removing the 27 seconds of 3x3 overtime in Game 2 vs Yukon).

Let’s hope Greg Brown changes the lines and the forechecking against Maine

Stiga, Hagens, Gasseau
Jevlik, Letourneau, Moore
Vote, Sondreal, Hemming
Resendes, Berard, Comey

Let’s not get over aggressive with the forecheck. It leads to odd man rushes the other way.

Go Eagles!🦅

Just maybe Conmy will get a hattie versus Maine tomorrow night and the result would be ecstasy for both BC fans and UHN fans. How fitting would that be?

Wondering what effect on BC recruiting the new Masters Academy International school will have. The Masters brothers, former BC players, are opening an elite sports oriented academic school in Stow, MA with Hockey being one of the premier programs.

Interesting. This will probably be in direct competition with Lovell Academy. A lot of good option$ out there. $$$$$$$$$

Maybe one of the Masters brothers would be a good idea to keep on a coaching short list for the next coaching search?

Not much if the students are mainly Massachusetts residents
Hockey in Mass at all time low- look at BC roster
Of 45 players trying out for development team this week only 3 from Massachusetts

Not gonna lie, I was very surprised to see the score when I got home. I figured Maine was going to dog walk them. Perhaps they don't want to go gently into that goodnight after all. That said, I still can't see them winning the Hockey East Tournament.

If they could bottle up what they had tonight and open it up on every team the rest of the way they'd be a tough out. Judging from last year's results when BC choked in the QFs, Hockey East will do a re-seed so we won't know BC's opponent until some of these games tomorrow are finalized.

They came out on fire. The set play from Rado to Stiga was like the old Krug-Pastrnak play from long-range that was so effective. I've been saying BC should work on that when teams are aggressive. Great to see Stiga get one. Given BC's history of blowing 2-0 leads the past few weeks, it was still a nervous time until they got the 3rd goal. Maine had that chance on a 2-on-1 in the 2nd period that somehow stayed out to keep it 2-0 and it felt good to get out of the period there still up 2 goals. They did get jumpy and started committing turnovers a bit on the perimeter there right before that great Maine chance. Felt like bad things were about to happen again. The third goal really iced it and you could breathe a bit easier. Jellvik is good and a game-changer.

It was a good redemption game for many. 5x5 goals galore. Conmy made a great play to Jellvik on the 3rd goal. Cloutier was good. Stiga finally got on the board again. Resendes deservedly took a lot of flak for the penalty last game but he's been really good otherwise the past 3 games.

Engagement level was high, compete level was high, and the physical gameplan was solid. I think it's effective because it keeps everyone engaged and the backcheck and forecheck was stifling; Maine had only 5 SOG in the first and 4 SOG in the third.

PP1 was not good tonight. PP2 was good though. Surprised Stiga didn't get another one there on the PP when he was rifling shots at the net.

This would have been nice last weekend or the weekend before. 🤷‍♂️

Good win, LC didn't have to make a lot of great saves but he made a few and was solid. In the second he had one roll through the crease, would have made it 2-1 so that was huge. Stiga drives the net and buries one off a bounce off the boards, he and Resendes were great all night. I am glad Hagens is on our team, the kid is so good, his first goal was a combination of determination and talent. Happened so fast that the goalie was still looking for the puck during the BC celebration. On to the Garden, most likely PC in the early game, but it is hockey so anything can happen. Definitely could be a upset with the 3 games today, I like NU's chances.

Spot-on. Massachusetts youth hockey has been in steady decline for at least 20 years and isn't going to get better any time soon. Many reasons, not the least of which is the skyrocketing cost of outfitting and equipping a player, plus tuition-like costs for club memberships, travel, training, etc. The blue collar kids, like those at the core of the 1980 Gold Medal team and the Snooks Kelley teams are long gone.
