BOSTON COLLEGE 2025 - 2026

Popping in real quick.

We needed a change on the staff and Buckley for Ben Smith is a good start. Thanks to Buckley for the hard work, he bleeds maroon and gold about as much as anyone.

Ben Smith is the type of guy that just doesn't know how to fail. I've had my eye on him for a while. He very well may be a future BC HC at some point.

The new age of college hockey is just weird... B1G teams buying rosters like crazy. I don't even know what to expect at this point.

Just some fun stats going back to the Ben Smith hiring.

His ability to find the net in NCAA tournament was crazy. EIGHT goals over his career in 3 NCAA tournaments (plus NINE assists... 8-9-17 in 12 games). 6 of those goals came in the Frozen Four, and 2 in championship games. BC was 7-0 in the games in which he scored.

Finally, some word on the schedule for the Saturday October 17 game against St. Cloud. According to a BC release: Saturday’s events will include an alumni tailgate prior to the 12 p.m. football game vs. the University of Pittsburgh. That means the hockey game will be at night and I would not be surprised if it is a later than the usual 7pm start as they have post-game football tailgating of one hour for games starting before 3pm. So, to avoid a conflict of coming and going traffic an 8pm start may possibly happen. Friday is the inauguration day of President John T. Butler, S.J. so that is why the first game is Thursday.

This seems like potential for the deepest offensive corp bc has had in a long time. Not the super star lines of smith, hagens, perreault, Leonard, gauthier but they’ve got some talent (at least on paper) enough to go three lines deep. Maybe four. Top end guys like letourneau, hemming, and stiga. Like to see more from Vote and comny and looking for a big step up from Moore. The incoming freshmen look really promising. I’m expecting a lot from the mutryn brothers. Vanhannen and murnieks have pretty big upsides. And I think a guy like Pelletier could be the glue the brings it together. The guy seems like a natural leader and clearly knows how to put the puck in the back of the net. The points he put up last heat in the Ushl are insane.

I guess defense and goal tending will be the key. On d, I’m bullish on radoivoich and I think Joyce will be a leader. As for the others we’ll have to rely on newcomers but Woodall and beauschene were impressive in the ohl last year. Like those two the best. As for grimes any recruit you steal from Minnesota you have to like and we’ll see about Schairer. Hadn’t paid too much attention to him as he was committed to bu. Don’t know what to think about Malgrave. He didn’t get much ice time for a subpar slu team but maybe there’s a reason for that. In goal I’m comfortable with cloutier but it’s good to have competition and seems like henriquiez will bring it. May see a goalie rotation at bc for the first time in a long long while.

And looking forward, seems to me like Brown has done a great job of lining up good guys up for the future. Both local guys and internationals. We certainly have high quality forwards coming in (not going to list guys because there are many, but I would say kudos for locking up Noah Davidson. He seemed like he had a great year for Medicine Hat last year. I’m really looking forward to seeing him at bc). Maybe still some questions on d. I also love the geaudreau jersey connection and good for Rocco Pelosi for calling it out. Take note Will LoSaouro!
