I boldly predict that hockey will score more points over the course of their season this year than football.

Good to hear. If only the hockey team was that intimidating.

Speaking of football, why is BC in the ACC? They should get out of that conference asap. Judging by how they look tonight, Brown would beat them. Maybe they should drop out of the FBS and play with us at the kiddie table.

I'm on the fence over whether the move to the ACC was a good one. Sure, the coffers are full of TV cash but the seats aren't flush with people. Is it acceptable to be swimming in $$$ if fan apathy is the price? In the end, BC can't bounce around to another Conference. They've made their bed, so to speak.

With four straight home games to start the schedule, 2-2 isn't acceptable...especially with an 'imminently beatable' Notre Dame that spanked them around pretty handily...at BC...on national TV.

If DeFilippo is biting his fingernails, GOOD. The sport he cares least for--hockey--is the only program (right now) that's a respectable one.

ACC > Big East.

If you ever have designs on becoming a big time program, this is where you need to be. Imagine BC had that great run like a few years ago, would they have been ranked #2 in the country had they been playing South Florida and Rutgers?

The ACC is great for BC, let's not kid ourselves here. And thanks to Gene for getting us there, really. But he should still kill himself for doing a lot of other things wrong involving the department, including the last two football hires. Spaz sucks and Gene's cute little game of chicken with Jags has painted him in the corner of not being able to get rid of his cute little TOB clone now. Speaking of people that suck, how about the BC offensive line full of Billy Bob's who just got our quarterback's ankle screwed up.

That program hasn't hit rock bottom yet but it's in free fall mode. It was teetering on the edge of this for a long time, though. Leahy better clean house.

Thank God for Jerry and BC hockey. For all the people that whine about Gene not giving any attention to hockey, you should thank your lucky stars that he doesn't go anywhere near it. He's like a bad King Midas, everything he touches turns to crap.

Exactly... let's hope he keeps a "hands off" attitude about basketball the way he has for hockey & results will improve...

BU hung 9 on Toronto tonight so I'm hoping for double digits tomorrow.

Okay, seriously, with the "BC shouldn't be in the ACC" crap...

Outside of the fact that we, um, you know, have been more successful than 75% of the teams in this conference in football since we've joined, BC soccer says hello.

Toronto must be a very bad team this year. They also lost to York Univ. 6-1. York just got pasted by Niagara 9-0. If BC does not score double digits I'll be concerned.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

Haha the only way I'll be concerned with anything tomorrow is if someone gets hurt...but then Kenny will scold me :p

Don't really care what BU did tonight.

Anyway, as for football...not gonna jump all over Spaz. Even getting the game to 21-13, you knew it was over when Rettig wasn't returning. That's disturbing when talking about a true freshman making his first start. I don't think you can judge how they'll do in the future until you get a good look at Rettig on the field. The concerning thing tonight was the absolute dominance by ND in the trenches. They completely controlled both lines of scrimmage.

come on chris, there more to it than hockey, both soccer teams are fine on a national level,as was discussed a few pages back and mentioned above, women #1 currently......also, ACC IS better for football and overall but i'd rather the Big East for basketball, there were so many good rivalries for us there but you have to look at the overall picture

BC doesn't do double digits. I don't know if York is opposed or what, but they generally stop at 9.

Toronto hasn't been a good team for over 25 years, although they've improved a bit in the last couple of seasons. They play in the softest division of the weakest conference in the CIS. Unfortunately, I would be really surprised if BC doesn't score double digits on them.

BC is never going to be a big time football program consistently like Michigan or Ohio State is. It's hardly something to be ashamed about but they are clearly outmatched vs. the good teams now. Outscored something like 50-13 in their last two home games vs. two unranked teams (VT and ND).

The Big East is bad, I agree. Its too bad they didnt end up in a conference with teams like Penn State, Rutgers, UConn, WVU, and other east coast teams.

By the way, your football coach is horrible. How does he get to coach a D1 team in the ACC.

Brown soccer is ranked around the same place nationally as Boston College's soccer team so what does this ACC thing really mean?

Agree it's likely Toronto wasn't a very good team, they gave up 9 goals and apparently still didn't have a backup goalie worth giving time... but your use of the transitive property is hilarious.

I guess BC Football better watch out for Delaware too.

Really? You say "soccer says hello" when saying why the ACC is good for BC and I pointed out that Brown's national ranking is just as good in soccer without being in the almighty ACC.

The fact that the ACC is absolutely a national power in soccer is irrelevant to you? Congratulations to Brown? Teams outside the big conferences can have good years.

Are you serious with this crap?
