Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Jack Parker: "There are two teams in this league who dive... and we're both of them."

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

1. When did Brickley become a BU homer?
2. BU dives, they are making their coach look like a clown.
3. BC needs to stop going five hole.
4. BU has the energy in the third.

After BC's second 'pinball-shot-off-the-goalie's-skate' goal, Brickley declared that it was a 'planned play.'

:D

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

How in the name of God do you get a too many men penalty there in the 3rd period?

Milner really could have had a shutout if not for that penalty and some horrendous play between the BC defensemen on the first goal. It's amazing how things went from just fine and everyone in great position to a pass ahead of MacLeod that he then threw back behind the net and someone totally panicked and rimmed it around for no reason causing a turnover.

Hayes having a monster season. Arnold really a heck of a player blocking all the shots and winning the faceoffs he did down the stretch. Nice to see him get the ENG for his effort.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

i think they need to make more clever signs, whatever they have been doing isnt working. BU even has to shamlessly dive to draw powerplays now,and they still lose. very embarrassing

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Someone mentioned this a few days/weeks ago, but assuming BC takes care of business vs Merrimack and Dartmouth (big assumption seeing the way Dartmouth has been playing), Jerry can break or tie the record vs Jack Parker's BU team in a couple weeks. Awesome.

Remember when Jerry and Jack's win totals were close? Seems like yesterday. Or two NCAA championships ago.

I know it's common for fans to complain about the announcers, but IMO Brickley has always been a little pro-BU. That's the vibe I've gotten from watching him call games between the two schools.

Can't ask for a more satisfying regular season weekend than beating ND and beating BU at Agganis...again.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

BC stepped it up and nice way to end the weekend. BC stayed disciplined when some of the BU players tried to start **** during the game when it started slipping away from them. Hohman is a little deuch bag and then another incident at the end of the game when another BU player tried to start something with Dyroff. I'm glad the other BC players came over to help him and skated away without continuing post game, on ice scuffle.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

But what about Scott Wilson?

Also, unless I missed something, NESN had an interview with Parker, interview with BU basketball coach, feature on Collier and Grizz Lick, and in-game interviews with two BU players. What the hell is that all about? Was this part of a BU package or something? Not a single BC feature that I saw.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Some of the previous BC teams were light years ahead of this team in terms of talent. But this team is full of guys that will sell out and absorb a puck to get the job done and the top two lines are as dangerous as any other line in the country. There's a whole lot of intangibles on this team. Arnold was immense tonight. That guy must have bruises all over given the amounts of shots he blocks. Q Smith is a wrecking ball. Mullane has a lot of talent and plays a great game every night.

Let me tell you what that Dyroff hit with about 6 seconds tells me. It tells me this BC team plans on playing the full 60 to the buzzer. And I like that. There's something beautiful about the Hockey Humanitarian Award winner lining up a BU clown with a few seconds left.

And then you have the can't-make-this-stuff-up story of Drunk Uncle Jack whining about other teams (pretty obvious he was directing this at BC) sandwiched in between the worst dive I've ever seen in Grand Forks and another diving penalty tonight. Brilliant Jack. Just brilliant. Bravo.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Ya, not sure what Gill's deal was at the end of the game (think it was him). Perfectly legit play from Dyroff. Maybe Sahir is just frustrated with his one assist in 7 games.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

...Yeah, BC's really good.

I was not surprised to see that 8-1-1 earlier in the thread, it seems every time you look at a BC@BU games now it's a relatively lopsided affair.

In regards to Gaudreau's dominance, how does it compare with Brian Gionta those of you who watched BC in the late 90s/early 00s?

I was surprised to see he only has 1 pt in 7 games.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Very different players IMO. I'm partial to Gionta, but the college game has changed a lot since he played. The numbers and consistency of Gionta are hard to beat, but it's a more defensive minded game these days.

1. The feature on Collier and Grzlecyk also featured Jimmy Vesey of Harvard.
2. The extra coverage of BU by NESN tonight is done to even things out when BC gets all the ink from March to April. Gotta be fair right?
