Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

The original was awful.

This one is worse...way worse! At least the hamfisted acting was fun in the original...this one is just flat out boring. Even film snobs would hate how boring and plodding it is.

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

Tried watching Deliverance. Tried. Got about 40 minutes in, and I was bored to death. I felt I had to give it a whirl, given the pop culture relevance of certain *ahem* aspects of the movie. I regret it.

Although I do honestly love "Dueling Banjos." It really is a great tune.

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

Langoliers was fantastic and awful.

Can I nominate "Christine?" ;)

I would love a remake/reboot of that. It's a great story that didn't really translate well to film at the time, due to the lack of technology. That being said, the movie did the best it could, and I don't mind it.

I watched it yesterday. I had forgotten how dreadful it was. By all means, remake it.

The book is shockingly good.

I'd love to see it remade in a different period -- say, contemporary setting and 80s music (for those who haven't read it, Christine is a love letter to the late 50s / early 60s music that guys with slicked back hair listened to). It would just be really funny if the lead is a woman who becomes possessed by Robert Smith.

Watched Platoon for the first time since it was in theaters in 1986. Great movie. **** Barnes😡😡😡

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

I was watching something the other day and in one scene there's a movie marquee with Bullitt on it and for some reason I thought to myself, "I'm surprised no one has remade that already".

Then the question was is Bullitt way too sacred for anybody to be try and recreate, if so what are some others that no one would dare try to touch, or is there nothing holy enough to be spared the indignity of a recreation just no one has got around to it yet?

For instance I don't think anyone will ever take a crack at Gone With the Wind - at least not straight up.

I can remember seeing that! But I can't recall the movie off the top of my head. Some guesses:

The Omega Man
The Godfather
Slap Shot
Diamonds Are Forever
Midnight Cowboy

Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

Might have been The Godfather - it's the only one I've watched within the past week.

I'm not sure the timing is right for any of the Godfather movies. Bullitt was a late '60's movie and I don't think any of the three Godfather movies was set in the late 60's.

iirc the timing was off and Bullitt was not the only movie billed. It might have been a retrospective showing.

However I say this not being more than 30% sure it was in fact The Godfather.

I think Godfather I and Godfather II were set in the 40's and 50's (except for II's flashback scenes), with Castro's revolution in '59 as the backdrop for the end of Godfather II, so Bullitt wouldn't have even been filmed then.
