Biden v Dump 1: If not now, when? If not us, who?

So, if that priest is spewing that garbage that the virus was planted here blah blah blah, one would stand to reason that a man of the cloth would say something like, oh, I don't know...."We need to beat this down first, so let's all WEAR MASKS! Then when we have it under control, we can work together to beat the Democrats!!"

These idiots....either it's a hoax (and I truly believe not one Republican has looked at the dictionary meaning of that word) or it's a plandemic and all the Democrat's fault. Which is it??? Get your stupid, asinine stories straight.

It's the deepest hoax (to unseat the President) ever. I mean, the democrats have gotten the entire world involved!

Also, the response to that gif has been kind of gross to me. Not because I have strong opinions on Harris (she seems fine?), but we all need to be careful of building both Biden and Harris into something they aren't. Look, they're the least worst choice. No more, no less. Be careful not to deify them.

I understand you’re not speaking to me directly, although I commented on the gif and you called responses “gross”, but I am curious what happens if we, and I’ll let you define who “we” is since I don’t want to put words in your mouth, build them into something they’re not? Like gods, for instance.
I know I don’t, and won’t, deify them. Biden was probably my 7th favorite choice for the Democratic nomination. The real bedrock of the Democratic Party completely disagreed with me on who they wanted as their nominee, and I’m cool with that. My life doesn’t change nearly as much as theirs when a f****** a****** is President. I do love Kamala Harris. I’m not a huge fan of her record as a “top cop”/prosecutor, but outside of someone like Larry Krasner of Philly, who, as a white guy, can get away with being whoever he wants to be, I’m not sure I know of any prosecutor’s record I’d be a huge fan of anyways. I’ve read some of Harris’s thought processes and rationales for her positions as California AG, and I understand where she’s coming from. Doesn’t mean I agree with it, but I think she’s more limited in her options and has to protect her re-election as well when it came to some of the positions she took.

Hey, I'm just having fun with it. Better than a tie 6" too long, no mask, morbidly obese, and too much bronzer.

I'll be clear and say I was not targeting anyone here, and I apologize if I made it seem like I was. The rest of social media is swooning to that gif, and I find that icky. Again, I don't have any strong feelings on Harris. I'll almost definitely be voting for Biden/Harris (I'm in MA, so it doesn't matter if I vote for them or for Snoopy), so I'm not trying to start a "Trump is better" argument.

In the same way we as a country deify our chosen leaders (at least, the ones that wear our chosen party uniform), I see people doing the same for Biden and for Harris. "Only they can save us from Trump!"

Sorry if I'm rambling. Rough morning for some reason.

I didn’t take it as an attack. I asked out of curiosity. It’s a message board. I don’t think most people take stuff here seriously. Since I browse here almost daily, I’m aware you’re not a “Trump is better” poster. Those people are obvious enough on here. I just thought maybe your line of thinking is if too many of us “deify” the ticket, people will take it for granted that they’ll win because it’s preordained or something, they’ll stay home, and then we lose because we fumbled at the goal line again.
I won’t hide that I think Kamala Harris is badass. Smart as f***, liberal as f*** in the Senate when she could really let her colors fly, and quick on her feet, which makes her excellent in debates, etc. I think she’s the complete package. I know most on here wanted Abrams and weren’t huge on Harris. I mean, that’s cool, we can all disagree on who we thought was the best fit. I know pretty much everyone on here now agrees Harris is a “safe” choice. I think she was the smartest and safest. To each their own.

I'm probably a bit more libertarian leaning than most here (note: not the conservative wing, but at times, borderline anarchic). I'm mixed on Harris. I feel like she has a lot of promise. But when watching her during the debates and during the Kavanaugh hearing, I just get a "not quite ready for prime time" vibe from her. She's far more to the left than I am but honestly at this point, I'll happily take "disagreement but competence" over ... what we currently have.

I don't know enough of the inside baseball of the democrat party to have much of an opinion on James. I was not impressed by what very little I've seen of her, but then Kemp has been such a spectacular catastrophe regarding COVID that I wonder if the state made the wrong choice. Ok, I don't really wonder.

Mmmmhmmmm. I feel like I was the only one on here swooning over her earlier this year. I’m glad that’s changed.

Hey now...she was my pick in the early primaries. She just didnt have the juice to win so support had to change.

I’ll take your word for it. Her and Warren were my two favorites until Harris dropped out. I liked Booker too.

That's not deifying, that's simply stating an objective fact. The reality is come January, either Trump will have been re-elected or Biden will have been elected. People aren't saying it because they think Biden is the savior, they're saying it because no one else can be since he was the last man standing.

The Supreme Court isn't last because it's infallible; it's infallible because it's last. Same line of logic applies here.

Just another climate hypocrite making use of a private jet. And you wonder why folks are skeptical ...

Biden signs starting to show up in my neck of the woods. The Ds had planned a sign-planting weekend, but it got pushed back for some reason. Still waiting for my email on it. Phone banks will be from individual homes--still waiting on that information as well. Different kind of grass roots work this year, with Covid. No door-knocking and no call centers, at least in my county.

I don't know enough of the inside baseball of the democrat party...

Here is a little inside baseball for you. It is the DemocratIC party. The members of that party are often (and properly) referred to as Democrats, but the party itself is the Democratic party. Republicans often refer to it incorrectly (and usually on purpose, though I doubt you did so).

I don't know why it makes me smile, but down the road from me a Biden/Harris sign is planted (along with a sign for a Democratic state assembly candidate) in a yard that also has a flag pole that includes an American flag and a Marine Corps flag. I guess it is nice to see someone with some sort of a tie to the military still has the ability to think. Beats the Hell out of the idiot former Marine who lived in my town in Indiana who flew his American flag upside down after Obama was elected but kept his Marine Corps flag on the pole. Completely inappropriate.

I did not mean any political statement by it, other than neglecting to hit the shift key.

I think he's referring to "Democrat" vs. "Democratic"

Republicans have gotten their hurrhurrs by dropping the "ic" because they think it makes some sort of point about them not being "democratic"

Yes, "Democrat party" is one of their little clubhouse secret handshakes, like "SJW" or "facts don't care about your feelings" or "snowflakes."

"Today is Wednesday" is the perfect explanation of this.

Oh. Yeah - so I'm out of the club apparently, since I was simply being lazy and had no intent behind it.

Really? I had no idea. Well, whatever. I still didn't mean it in any other way than apathy.
