Biden v Dump 1: If not now, when? If not us, who?

I'm legitimately terrified about what is going to happen. IF (all caps for a reason) Biden wins, it will not matter by how much. Trump will be declaring victory before dinner, in my opinion.

I think we're going to know early on election night.

A month or two ago a lot of liberals were publicly expressing fear that Democrats would be using mail in ballots while Republicans would vote on election day at the polls. The fear expressed by these people is that the "early returns" (i.e., election night totals) would favor Republicans and thus Trump and others would claim victory, then once all ballots are counted, claim their victory was stolen from them.

I actually think the opposite will happen. I think that people are going to vote early, in many cases in person, and those votes will be long tabulated before election day. Once the election day ballots are in, we'll pretty much have all the ballots counted, with a few stray mail in ballots to come in.

If the supposition is right (that early ballots or mail in ballots favor Democrats), something I don't necessarily subscribe to, Biden should see a very early lead, with a possible narrowing of the gap as the evening and following day wears on.

Honest question, what actually happens with counting early votes? During the debate, Chris Wallace mentioned something about some states not counting anything until election day. I can kind of see the reasoning there; it would be hard to prevent any leaks of the totals thus far which would impact people's behavior before election day; on the other hand, it would be nice to lighten the load of what actually has to be counted on election day.

And you know he's telling all the Republican senators to not agree with any outcomes of their races unless they outright win either. I fear for all Democratic challengers with all these domestic terrorist groups taking it upon themselves to "protect America." They are going to be everywhere during that time and it's going to be frightening.

Here's what will happen.

1. Biden will ultimately win in a landslide. We will take the Senate and expand our lead in the House.
2. However there will be ambiguity in many states on election night because of uncounted ballots: Most of these states will be considered "too close" and/or "too early" to call the morning after the election: TX, IA, GA, OH, NC, AZ, FL, PA, WI, NV, and MI.
3. Dump will immediately declare victory no matter the partial popular vote or the projected EC because REASONS. Wherever he loses/is behind he will claim fraud.
4. Many other Republican thugs in endangered seats will declare victory, committing them to the Dumpy side.
5. The conservative base will treat victory as assured and say any other result is theft. By November 10th they will believe this as strongly as all their other myths.

In the weeks that follow, counts will go on in every state with Republicans trying to stop them and/or trying to throw out millions of Democratic votes for REASONS. It won't just be Dump on the line here -- many Republican Senators and Members are going to lose their seats, too, if the election is fair, so they will throw in, with the Nazi third of the public and the entire conservative media stoking the flames.

The questions then will be:

1. Do the courts go Nazi or stay American?
2. What level of violence will there be?
3. How Nazi are LEO -- will they do their job or turn their back Srebrenica-style as conservative terrorists commit murders?

I have no answers for the 3 questions but on them rests the future of democracy in America and possibly a world war against the US if we lose this.

Every state has its own laws on when people can vote and when the votes are counted.

I think there should be a national standard that all early votes must be processed and counted immediately upon receipt and announced immediately upon poll closure.

Dropped off my ballot today. For the offices where a candidate ran unopposed, and so name appeared on both the Dem and Rep side, I just left blank. Odds are, in my state, they're a Republican, and I ain't voting Republican again for a long time, if ever.

Nazis need to die, and die badly. Even the mealy-mouthed, middle of the road Repubs. You don't stand against the Nazis in your party, you can die with them.

When there's a Dem running unopposed I vote for them. I don't need some write-in campaign for a Hand Maid winning an election for the Nazis, even if it's for Ombudsman.

When there's a Republican running unopposed I write in Dr. Mrs. It's fun to see her name when they publish the complete list of write-ins. Do this some time, it's hysterically funny -- people are great. It's not just Deez Nuts though he (she? they?) typically get a dozen or so votes in every unopposed race.

In my state, if they're unopposed, their name appears on both sides of the ballot, as Dem and republican. Without doing a ton of possibly useless research as to their current party affiliation, I just chose not to vote. They're gonna get elected anyway.

I would go with counting them at the start of Election Day and hopefully you’re done by the time polls close. That should give between 12-14 hours to get them tabulated.

We went over this a while ago but I would also have a law that your ballot has to be received by Election Day to be counted. I know for the most part nothing nefarious is going on when they are received after but it looks dodgy.

I'm sure Jon Stewart is very happy with his post Daily Show life, but he has to think now and then how sweet it would have been to skewer dump daily on the show. The same opportunities that ad makers for LP, Biden, and other groups are enjoying now. Beyond target rich.

11:15 a.m. update: As lines wrapped around voting locations in Travis County Tuesday morning, Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector Bruce Elfant reported that nearly all eligible voters in Travis County were registered to vote this year.

Of the county’s more than 850,000 eligible voters, a record 97% of them are registered to vote in the Nov. 3 general election, Elfant said.

This is the county with Austin in it.

I always read up on the ballot before I go. There are occasional "Dems" who are just conservatards who bought a nomination. And there are always elections like school board with no party affiliation where you need to screen for Thumpers, real estate swindlers, and other such imbeciles.

No. Then whoever runs the PO controls the election. Can you imagine what the Republicans would do if this was the law? Mail routes from black counties would suddenly have technical difficulties.

We are dealing with bona fide Nazis. There is no reason to do anything other than crush them under heel. They are bad actors. Optics and fair play are meaningless when you are fighting a virus. Our one limit is the letter of the law.

Well, mine were for Sheriff, who I'm pretty sure is a Republican, and Register of Deeds, who I don't really care, and one other I forget. So other than Sherriff, not really high profile positions.

And like I said, they're gonna win office anyway. Just not with my vote.
