Biden v Dump 1: If not now, when? If not us, who?

Live reaction from Joe Biden's Camp:

As a traditional over-40 conservative who has happily voted for guys like Romney and GW Bush in the past, I was a little unsettled by my own emotional reaction to watching the bright and forthright Kamala Harris debate the stinky reanimated corpse of Mike "Hunt" Pence. I think my inner conversion to a modern progressive human American is nearly complete. Do I need to eat kale now?
In the big picture, this is Trump's life's work: he exposed the rotten soul of the party he hijacked, and thereby changed the direction of the American Experiment. Possibly just in time to save the planet from human destruction. Attaboy? Would we have been better or worse off, at this moment, if Cruz was cruising toward a second term?

This is about where I am, but I flipped to the libertarian party by 2008. I look forward to being able to piss my vote away on a third party candidate again.

And I think we'd be better off if nearly anyone else had won in 2016.

So you're willing to support Trump by not voting for Biden?

I believe this is literally true. Dump is actually the worst possible president. Even a serial killer would be better as they tend to have an area of competence.

If you're gonna do kale, don't do it as the main ingredient, it sucks there. But you know where it's really good? If you're making a stew, tear it into tiny pieces and mix it in there. It adds some good texture without ruining anything. Basically it's good if you can add it somewhere but not be aware it's there. Think of it as the GOP thinks of women and minorities.

I think Lenin was center-right and I will never willingly eat that sh-t. It is the stuff the little steering tabs on the bottom of electric football players were made of.

Actually, he thinks his shtick is still working. He really thinks that pose on the WH balcony makes him look strong, like a real leader. That people will give him credit for beating Covid.

The only ones any of this is working on are the 40% who are voting Trump anyway. Everyone else looks at him getting Covid and says "what a freaking idiot, you knew this was coming, you were begging to get it."

I understood it as he looks forward to when he doesn't need to vote Dem and can vote 3rd party, but that's not this election.

Correct. I live in MA anyway so my vote quite literally does not matter, but I'll still be voting for Biden this round.

I very much look forward to 2024 when it'll be Biden or Harris against <insert sacrificial lamb Republican here> and I can vote for a third party.

Unfortunately we don't know this at all.

Well, we do, because that's how viruses and immunity work. Some people don't develop antibodies, but for the vast majority that do, you're immune. For some period of time. Some viruses have extremely short immunity. Some mutate so rapidly that previous antibodies don't work (or work less). Some leave you with a decade or more of immunity.

Since SARS-COV2 has been in existence for barely a year, we do not yet know the length of immunity. SARS1 offered about 2ish years of immunity, for example, and since SARS2 is extremely similar to that, I think that's as good an estimate as any. But it is just that - an estimate.

It will be very interesting to follow moving forward. Are we going to need periodic booster shots? SARS2 doesn't seem to mutate anywhere near as often as influenza, which is good.

This.

They’ve been blinded with overconfidence by 2016. To them, come Election Day the “real Americans” will be out and they’ll cruise. Of course they never realize that no one out there is utterly disgusted with Biden as they were about Clinton, thus driving up the third party vote and giving Trump a path to victory. Plus, they’re thinking their suppression efforts will keep them in the lead.

Kale (and most chard, greens, etc.) is nasty. Totally agree with French Rage. As an accent, it's some3where between fine and good.

it would be like drinking a glass of bitters. Inedible on their own, but when mixed with other stuff, it can elevate it.

It’ll be Trump again. He’s not going away if he loses. He’ll just bitterly whine about being cheated, his base will eat it up, and the 2024 primaries will turn out exactly like the 2016 primaries where Trump will steadily get delegates while others win but no one else will be able to coalesce enough support around themselves thus giving Trump
the win.

If that's the case I may vote Biden/Harris or Harris/VP. No more Trumps. No more Bushes. No more Clintons. No more Kennedys.

Also:

Romneys
Cheneys
Pauls
Tafts
Murkowskis
Udalls
Pelosis
Sununus
Gores
Byrds
Manchins
Browns (as in CA)

Decapitate every family member and empty their estates into the US Treasury.

(writes essay about Trump's age-and-adderall related frailty, the coming ejection of Trump family and associates from the Rubio/McConnel/Hannity GOP, and a return to normalcy.... pauses, deletes, and worries that u/jimjamesak just may be right...)
