Re: BGSU Offseason Thread

From Google Translate:

Piece by piece complete the Augsburger Panther their squad for the 2015-16 season. Of the Schwenninger Wild Wings Striker Jon Matsumoto now switches to the DEL-Club.

Jon Matsumoto was drafted after strong performances for the Bowling Green State University in the NCAA in 2007 by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round. NHL inserts came the 28-jährge links contactors for the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers. Mostly Matsumoto was used in the American Hockey League. In 527 games for the Philadelphia Phantoms, Adirondack, Charlotte, San Antonio, Chicago and Worcester of 183 cm and 86 kg Canadians recorded 155 goals and 198 assists. Last stormed Matsumoto for Schwenninger Wild Wings in the DEL. For the Black Forest, he played all 52 games in his first main round Europe station. Besides ten assists are also 14 goals, five of them on the powerplay to book for him.

"After Drew LeBlanc, we have a strong second game Center sought. Jon Matsumoto has produced many points again and again in his career. His game is oriented offensively, he's good at Bully point and goes to where it hurts. We believe that Jon's playing style is well suited to the new Augsburger Panther, "said Panthers coach Mike Stewart on the now 13 signing of the DEL-traditional club.

Jon Matsumoto adds: "I am very pleased that I continue to play for the Augsburger Panther. In old players I've heard only good things about the club. Personally, I am not happy with my last season, the Panthers had a difficult year. I am convinced that together we get back on track and be successful. I feel the absolute confidence of those responsible in my abilities and can expect to restart hardly. "

Jon Matsumoto will play for the Augsburger Panther with the shirt number 10.

BG expected to provide a COA stipend of around $4,700 this season and is the only WCHA team to provide one.

I wonder, hockey-only figure or all sports? that's quite a bit higher than the Blade's report from July 5, and is close to the high end for CoA.
must be the difference between the in-state, out-of-state, and international figures.
guess Connor McDonald would get the low end.

University financial aid offices determine cost-of-attendance figures, which vary from school to school. UT’s figure for cost of attendance during the next school year is $3,830, while BGSU’s is $3,250, though the numbers differ based on whether a student is in-state, out-of-state, or international.

I got my information from here: https://www.bgsu.edu/admissions/scholarships-and-financial-aid/cost-summary.html

Book and academic supplies must be getting tossed in with scholarships, which would make the $3250 closer to the $3,742 quoted in that link.

Re: BGSU Offseason Thread

"Reading, Pa. – The Reading Royals, ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL, announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Adam Berkle.

A native of Collegeville, Pa., Berkle registered 21 points (7g-14a) and 34 penalty minutes in his senior season at Bowling Green State University in 2014-15. Berkle, who served as an alternate captain for the Falcons last year, received the Howard Brown Coaches Award at the conclusion of the season. Berkle, who was a member of the 2008 Pennsylvania State Championship team at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa., racked up 84 points (31g-53a) and 177 penalty minutes in 158 career games at BGSU."

Re: BGSU Offseason Thread

According to the school's official Twitter, BGSU is hosting an AHL game on October 2. I'm assuming it'll be a preseason game with the Lake Erie Monster and maybe the Grand Rapids Griffins, but that's just a wild guess. Does any other school have something like this planned?

That's cool. Maybe the Red Wings will come down and play an exhibition there.

ok I admit it, was always kind of meh about the Monsters when they were an Avs affiliate.
But this is brilliant--for the Monsters, the Jackets, and BGSU.
I want tickets!

From a year ago on Over The Boards:
Another 1998 that could pick up more recruiting heat this season is Pittsburgh Penguins Elite product Connor Ford, who played up at U18 hockey this winter and didn’t look out of place at all. At 6’0~ with a good frame, he looks like a future college hockey player on the ice and plays like one too, as Ford seems to have a measured, power forward style game with some offensive upside at the next level.

Re: BGSU Offseason Thread

Sorta off topic... but what's the issue with Stephen Baylis's eligibility? If he played major juniors, wouldn't that completely disqualify him from the NCAA?

Last I checked, the penalty was one season of eligibility for the infraction and a game-per-game penalty thereafter. I may be wrong.

according to Bill, he was on the Gatineau pre-season roster in 2012.

looks like he was, and played one pre-season game for them.

maybe he swung a reduced sentence for only playing pre-season.

From what I understand, he played 3 total post season Major Junior games. Because of that, he got few looks from most of the programs, but BG was still VERY interested if he could get the issues worked out. He hired a lawyer and was able to negotiate a deal with the NCAA where he would miss 2 games for each major junior game that he played, thus the 6 game suspension. He is going to be a good one, and is a MAJOR get for BG!

looks like he's gonna be a two-way beast.

don't see him on any Gatineau playoff roster, but he has a stat line for one preseason game in 2012. strange.
guess we'll know pretty soon. 47 days until BGSU hockey!

Re: BGSU Offseason Thread
