BGSU Offseason Thread

Defense didn't look that bad. I saw a lot of standing around and not moving feet by both the forwards and the D. Almost like they were expecting Toronto to just step aside and let them score whenever. I'm willing to bet a full week of practice is going to change that.

special teams looked solid. PK held off a 5-on-3, like picking up from last season.
PP had good movement and chances. Ferrari had time on the second PP unit.

I figured since this thread has no date in it......may as well just use it, since it seems like some BG off season news may be ramping up.

Well, I guess we got our first answer to the "why are they bringing in 8 guys" question.

Ernst gone to OHL

Seemed like Smith kind of passed Ernst towards the end of the season, as far as, who was getting ice time of the mid-season additions. I know Ernst was a healthy scratch for a number of games down the stretch, including 3 of the 4 playoff games.

Greiner an Pears are gone, too. Pears was cut. Greiner never got much playing time and that likely wasn't going to change.

I think Matt Meier should be a freshman, but probably pretty accurate barring any early departures.

"...continued competition as an intercollegiate sports venue"
"...the creation of box seats and suites in the existing bleacher seat area"
"...the creation of a special “club” or lounge area overlooking the ice that would include a bar/food and box suites"
"...study of the financial and physical consideration of the construction of a [full size] third sheet of ice"

Looks like we're contemplating goin' Big Time. Sign me up for a skybox (well, as much into the "sky" as you can get with the current ceiling height).


Anybody know more about this?

3rd sheet really? That much demand?
Suites a no brainer, bar hell yes.

These ideas have been floated for over ten years and this is at least the second, if not third study that's been done on the Ice Arena. I've actually seen the construction plans from the last time.

Not to be a wet blanket, but I'll believe it when I see it.
