BGSU Offseason Thread

Re: BGSU Offseason Thread

Max Johnson commits to BGSU for 2017-2018.
Jr. forward at Lakeville North, coached by Trent Eigner, heh. pipeline!
Drafted by the Sioux Falls Stampede.

“As you watch the team play and you notice other players who jump out at you, Max Johnson is one of them that does because of how hard he competes and he finishes every check,” said Gary Harker, an NHL scout who has seen Johnson from watching older Lakeville North players who are draft eligible."

I'm surprised that he wasn't already in. He's a great example of what the BG program can be, yeah?

Ranking the Philadelphia Flyers prospects, Part II
http://alongtheboards.com/2015/09/ranking-philadelphia-flyers-prospects-part-ii/

"12. Mark Friedman (D) – A member of the WCHA’s All-Rookie team and voted co-recipient of Bowling Green’s Rookie of the Year honors was also a valued member of a penalty-kill unit ranked second in the nation, led all players with 64 blocked shots and tied for the club lead with 17 assists — with all of this occurring after his turning 19 during the early part of his freshman campaign. In the wake of two standout seasons in the USHL for Waterloo (75 points in 115 appearances), the Toronto native’s projection is along a similar path of Shayne Gostisbehere. Let’s hope the rest of the Falcons can progress at a similar speed in the next two to three years so that his growth isn’t stunted."

pffft. unwarranted fears about the Falcons.

Y'know, I see no reason why the Falcons can't be top-five this year, and I don't say that frivolously.

Preseason college hockey power rankings: 16. Bowling Green
http://alongtheboards.com/2015/09/pr...bowling-green/
______________________________________________________

Seems like a pretty low ranking to me.

I can see his questions on the defense, but its not like Nolan was great in his own end?? He moved the puck well, but defensively he can be replaced fairly easily. From what I've read, Ferrari should be able to replace the puck movement part.
I think he is also grossly underestimating our offense. The top scorers return plus you add Baylis amd McKeown. I think offensively this will be Bergeron's best group yet.

Top 10 team at least, maybe top 5-6 if Burke steps up as Senior and is more consistent.

.......I get it though. We faded at the end last year and until we prove we can finish strong and make the National tournament we won't get the benefit of any doubts or doubters.

good analysis. I'll settle for top 15.
16 sucks.

based on what Coach has said about modeling the D corp on the mobility of Ferris circa 2012, gotta believe the incoming guys will be able to move.
