Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

Re: Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

EZ explaination...LOONNNNNNGGGGG history and let's face it, there is absolutely NOTHING else in the North Country going on. Probably draws like 80% of the local population to the games. Can anywhere else claim THAT?
Nothing else going on? Sounds like the entire upper midwest to me.

Re: Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

What about Colorado College vs Denver. They are one of the best out there as well...

Re: Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

I'm not discrediting them in the sense that I don't think they're rivalries. But like I said, if there are Minnesota fans who would say that one or the other is not even their school's biggest rivalry, then I don't see how either can be the biggest in the whole sport.

If a UND fan is asking a MN fans says UW is our biggest rival and if a UW fan asks then it's UND. ;)

Yeah, that's probably top tier as well. I didn't immediately think of that one but it's certainly right up there with UM-UND, BU-BC, and CU-SLU.

Precisely.

I really don't get that reasoning, either. Just because a team has two intensely heated rivals, neither one of them must be an intensely heated rivalry?

All of this is irrelevant, of course. Red Cloud already let us know that the biggest and best rivalry in all of college hockey is RPI-Union. ;)

Re: Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

There is only one rivalry that someone made a documentary about.

BU-BC

I'm just sayin.

No way NESN loves BU-BC?! I am effing shocked! :)

The fact that you are on the same road in the same town and that this is still up for debate means you lose. :p

Re: Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

BU/NU (up tomorrow night!)

Ok Ok... maybe its not the best in college hockey, but it's up there, and its tomorrow.

Re: Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

UNH and Maine used to have a healthy hatred for each other.

BU and BC get a ton of exposure with the Beanpot, Hockey East games, York/Parker, and they are about 8 miles apart.

The Boston media always makes a big deal of things when they play each other.

Re: Best Rivalry in College Hockey???

The best rivalry is when 2 teams that hate each other get to play each other. Now, that was easy.

Clarkson and St Lawrence is a RIVALRY? I've never heard anything about this rivalry. If it's really the biggest rivalry in college hockey, I'd be more aware of it's existence.

I'm not arguing it's not a rivalry, but it just doesn't compare to some others mentioned.

The fact that there is one game/opponent that at the beginning of every season your own team circles and 99% of the fans would prefer to go to that single regular season game than any other just makes the game just that much bigger. I do feel the BU vs BC rivalry has gotten stronger in my mind since Maine has eroded into another also ran, although the two NC's didn't hurt;).
