While I agree people from Minnesota and Wisconsin really don't like each other, I say UND is a bigger one. All they have is college hockey, so their hatred bottles up for one sport. Also, doesn't one team have to win more than 37% of the games in order for it to be considered a great rivalry?
So there is a thread out there that proclaims the Minn vs. Wisc to be the "greatest rivalry"...I bet we can come up with some others that would argue against that supposition. In my own experience I'd nominate: Clarkson v. St. Lawrence. Why you ask? Well with 178 games contested between the two and a series going back to 1925 these two school, which are only a mere 10 miles apart, fiercely compete for North Country bragging rights. Or what about Cornell v. Harvard? A rivalry dating back to 1910 and has a movie line to boot. Others??

*ing Goddammit I *ing hate UND. I mean, I hate WI, too, but not like I hate UND. Something on the level of the last circle of hell.

Three words. Water Bottle Game.No one has mentioned UW-UND. They have more titles between them than anyone else and I believe they are responsible for officials being on the ice during warm ups.
The way I look at it is UND/UMN/UW. It's a 3 way rivalry and everyone hates each other (with few exceptions), and all three are usually in national title talks year in and year out, which definitely adds to the intensity.I'm not going to argue with that. I remember I was first sent that article during a UMN-UW series and at the time I couldn't agree more that UW was our biggest rival. Then come UND-UMN series I didn't give two ****s about wisconsin.
This UMN-UND/UW this has obviously been argued to death. Every time it comes up I find that the relatively younger fans (myself included) tend to see UND as our biggest rival while the older generation tends to go with UW. Of course there are exceptions but it just seemed to be the trend I noticed.
Don't forget all the NCAA wins. The UND-SCSU rivalry is pretty intense and between them they have seven titles.![]()
