Agreed...the SUNYAC Championship in Platty during Ryan Scott's last year was epic.

One of the best atmospheres I've ever been involved with.

One game that beat that game was the Elmira/Manhattanville NCAA Quarterfinal game in 2006. However, I'd be hard pressed to come up with another one that beat that. Maybe the Utica/Elmira ECAC West semifinal game at Utica in 2005? I think it was.

Of course insert almost any RIT/Elmira game over the years too:cool:

"last minute to play in the rivalry" game where Elmira came back from down 6-2 in the final five minutes against RIT in the very last game the two teams ever played against each other at the Ritter to win 7-6 in OT.

EC scored two shorthanded goals in those five goals too IIRC.

RIT fans still have a sour taste in their mouths over that game.:D

Thats the best atmosphere i've ever expierienced with a D-III hockey game.With the Double overtime and 3,997 fans that were there until about 10:30 that night or so,i don't know how that atmosphere could be beat.It was even better that Utica won,with the buzzer horn(and for those of you that have been to a UC hockey game,you know how loud that is) and the fans screming like USA just beat the Soviet Union,it doesen't get much better than that in D-III hockey.

And its also sad that 99.9% of the players on that roster that SMASHED your Tankers back then would have come to Plattsburgh anyways...guess your crow will taste good when the book comes out...get over it, you guys got tossed around by Plattsburgh that year and still wish you could have the championship...

I think it's pretty amusing that

1) you admit that not every player would have come to plattsburgh otherwise.

2) you still talk smack about beating oswego after admitting point 1. Nevermind the fact that those wins were vacated.

3) Your ability to never let any perceived slight against you or plattsburgh slide.

Because not EVERY player on the team was interviewed....all that were questioned said they were coming to Plattsburgh no matter what....the aligations and infractions then are nothing like some financial aide packages you see today that schools put together. I'm sure you've talked with the writer of the book and people involved to right?

But hey if I got beat 5 times in a season and smoked in the Championship I'd want to forget they happened too.....using the word vacted is just an excuse for trying to forget they happened

To be honest, if the relative merit of these options is as equivalent as you imply, I would be less angry at Oswego's current policies than at the lack of foresight among Cardinal boosters in the 80s, who clearly should have just dumped the money they spent directly on room and board into some scholarship fund instead :o

I have heard that Utica is the place to go to know in D3 but I still have to believe that Norwich/Middlebury is still a heated or hated rivalry. Also attended an Arizona vs. Arizona State Club game one time about 6,500 strong at the Civic Center insane atmosphere for Division 4 ice hockey.

I love all this talk about the player getting financial aide and such. Here at the Port, we just have guys that love the game. So what if we have no Ncaa championship. This thread is about teams that have a fun product on the ice and more specifically the fans that support and bleed their colors. Hush mouths. I'll keep chanting games.

Just to throw a little NESCAC into the mix....you gotta beleive that some of the Bowdoin/Colby matchups rank right up there...consistantly drawing over 2000 in Brunswick, at least. And remember, there are only 4000 in the entire state of Maine;)

Even with school out the Norwich/Plattsburgh game a week from Tuesday should generate a standing room only crowd and plenty of excitement since both teams are very good this year. The Norwich/Middlebury games generate a lot of excitement and I have heard the Plattsburgh/Oswego games are the same.

The Norwich/Plattsburgh games are nothing like the old (pre CC/pre Stafford Funeral Home) PSU/OSU games...

Everyone is saying Norwich/Middlebury games are bigger than Plattsburgh/Oswego...are you serious?!?! I've been only following the team for the last six years but, the loudest I've ever heard it get was when Ward Smith scored in OT vs Oswego in January, 2008. It's like a bomb went off, that place went nuts! Before the Fieldhouse was turned into a movie theatre we used to get atleast 3,600 people in attendance for those games.
