Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

The way that RPI dismantled Union tonight, maybe RPI is better than some RPI fans thought they were, and maybe Bentley is better than some RPI fans thought they were.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Calling for a sweep this weekend. You heard it here first.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

I like this call. Our team responded well against RPI the weekend after their ugly loss to Sacred Heart.

I'm excited. Niagara is going to come out flying though. 0-8 isn't a great indication of their play. They're by no means an easy win and we've got to come out flying. We deserved the second game at Penn State. That one stung. So I agree, I expect the boys to come out and make a statement this weekend. Let's go Bentley!

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Doc's second career shut out. Let's go for another sweep this weekend.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Doc has played fantastic of late. 33 saves tonight, after 40+ last weekend. What an absolute thrashing tonight. From puck drop to the final horn Bentley dominated that game.

While I wish it had been last night's game (given the good attendance), I'm looking forward to tonight's tilt. Some fellow members of the Alumni Asooc. Board of Directors are being dragged to Watertown by me to see "what is all this buzz we hear about the hockey team?" I'll also be blatantly campaigning for a new arena.

Good luck raising funds for Alumni Rink on campus, schiegs. :-)

Unfortunately, there's a big concert/dance on campus tonight. So I have a feeling we're going to have a tough showing tonight. We'll be there, but I don't know how big of a student crowd we'll have. The boys played fantastic last night so hopefully we'll see the same tonight.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

That was tough. Nonetheless, it was a very good game to watch. I'm just not pleased Niagara got their first points from us.

PP looked solid, again.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

It was disappointing to have no students there tonight for the board of alumni. We've got to work on our scheduling conflicts, this year the concert messed up the game, last year, spring break was during the playoffs. The result was also disappointing. We are a better team then them, and should've won tonight. Looking forward to a big match-up next weekend vs Mercyhurst.

The alumni board seeing a sparsely populated barn may have been a good thing. Next year I will coordinate a little more in advance.

BTW, Bentley is now playing with 12 equivalent scholarships. Recruiting classes should continue to be strong.

Excellent. When did we change the number of scholarships/how many did we have before.

I wish the board had been there opening night. Standing room only at The Jar.

AHA voted in May 2013 to increase max number of schollies from 12# to 13# for 2014-2015 season and to 14# for 2015-2016 season, so we are still short one. NCAA hockey schollie limit is 18#.

At same meeting in May 2013, video replay was mandated for the 2014-2015 season, and made optional last year, which Bentley instituted.

Their effort to find a replacement for UConn failed, as Alabama-Huntsville decided to join the WCHA, St Anselms elected to remain in Div 2, and Navy and URI did not commit to starting a Div. 1 team.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

We were at 6 as recently as two years ago, I believe.

Sounds about right. The AHA initially was the "cost-containment" conference, but when new schools were added, such as Niagara, RIT, and Robert Morris, travel became more expensive, as did the increase in schollies. But, the AHA must be able to compete with the other conferences if the schools wish to remain Div 1 in hockey, and collectively we have a long way to go on that count (see Mookie's thread bashing Hockey East begun earlier in the year when they were losing a lot of their OOC games).
