Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Hey Bentley:

You beat these engineers on 10/18/2008 in their barn and I have the video to prove it. How about a repeat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojiLFXlRAdQ

RPI is leading the ECAC in penalty minutes so practice your power play.

RPI has scored three goals in the past 4 NC games and they are being outshot by a ton
29 vs 33
22 vs 34
26 vs 42
17 vs 39

Their goalies are good but they are not getting any support so get a lots of folks in front of the net. Forecheck !!! Support your goalie. Block 12 shots and create 12 turnovers !!! You can do this !!!!

Focus on Friday and get it done. Don't wory about the 1 game suspensions .... someone else will step up.

Good Luck !!!

Oh yes, I am from Massachusetts and don't live far from Waltham

Does anyone on this board really believe Gensler was recruited as a grinder? Also why did grieve imply there was a problem with some on the team regrading gensler play? He should of taken the high road and simply said we will miss our teammate!

I don't think he was implying there was a problem, I think that he was just saying there are more opportunities now. We'll see how that works out, but I don't think for a second that anybody wouldn't want Gensler back in black and blue! And I had a hard time believing that he was recruited to be a grinder... I forget what article said that, but there's a quote somewhere saying he was.

We've got them! Thanks for the words of encouragement and advice! I think this weekend is a great opportunity for us. After the end of the last game, I'm expecting a more disciplined, but fired up squad to take the ice in Troy and I don't see any reason why we shouldn't give them a real showing. They faced a dominant Denver defense this weekend, so we've got to work on shutting down their offense and like you said, attack the net!

Good luck this season yourself, I grew up in Saratoga and have attended and played dozens of games in Messa rink! Couldn't have picked a better team last year (besides Bentley), congrats again!

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Anyone driving down the Pike for either game?

As a side note, that has to be one of the most boring drives on the planet (aside from maybe driving up to Orono.)

We had a few fans there!! Great win for the program. After the debacle vs Sacred Heart Saturday, this was a big win. The right team won this game. We definitely out played them for most of the game with the exception of some stretches in the third. Now let's go out there and take game two!

Congrats to the Falcons in Troy! Good to see the frosh stepping up, and fine outing for Gabe.

Great Win Bentley !!!!
Good job staying out of the penalty box, great skating, crisp passing. You overcame adversity and won on the road. Great defense. Tonight has got to be another selfless team effort !!! Protect and support your goalie. Wear down RPI. GOOD LUCK !!!!! GET THE SWEEP !!!!!

Thanks for supporting our thread, Dutchman and Tuthill. And, good for UConn, too! All reminds me of the NCAA West Regionals a few years back in Grand Forks when the entire Sioux fan base was cheering on the Crusaders to beat the Gophs, which they did. Perhaps a bit less at stake this early in the regular season, but OOC wins are always a plus.

First N/C weekend sweep?

Fear the bird!

I think so. Doc's first shut out, and McDonald's and McMurphy's first collegiate goals. With only 16 SOG, the Falcons made their shots count tonight. Second, third, and fourth lines, and third D pair scored the four goals tonight; now that is balanced scoring!

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

What a weekend for Bentley Hockey!! We're up to 24th in the Pairwise rankings, and have to be feeling good headed into Hockey Valley next weekend. No reason to believe we can't do the same next weekend. We're going to make the trip down to State College, PA for Friday's game vs. Penn State.

It's great to see such a balance in scoring across the lines and across the classes. DOc played well. Still waiting on freshman goalie Argue... not sure why he isn't dressing. Anybody know? Anyways, after this weekend, we're really looking forward to the rest of OOC play! Lets Go Bentley!!

Edit: Not just Doc's first shut out, but his first collegiate W. :-)

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Ok so where did everybody go? There's not a lot of activity on this thread... after last weekend, there should be plenty to talk about!

Bentley is getting lots of press from the big College Hockey News providers.

NCAA Team of the Week per CHN: http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2014/10/28_team_of_the_week_bentley.php

Nice write up focusing on Bentley from Chris in the AHA Weekly here: http://www.uscho.com/2014/10/29/ben...eferred-style-and-a-road-sweep-is-the-result/

Doc named AHA Goalie of the week: http://www.atlantichockeyonline.com/news/2014-15_News/weeklywinners102814

Also, we received a vote in the lastest USCHO rankings poll: http://www.uscho.com/rankings/

The same number of votes our next opponent got...

Penn State this week!! Another big opportunity to get some OOC points for pairwise. Definitely a beatable team for us, and if we go in with the same mentality as last week we should be able to pick up another two wins. Holy Cross was in the game until the third period in both games vs. the Nittany Lions last weekend. We've just got to keep playing our game, blocking shots, shutting them down and the goals will keep coming! We've got to take this momentum and keep it up.

The school is showing the games on big projectors in the student center, and The Top Shelf will be making the road trip to State College, PA to support the boys!

Glad to see good promotion of the "big" games against name brand schools. I've always beleived that is how you get new fans. Let's face it; if you're new to the sport, do you really know or care that St. Cloud State has a much stronger program than Penn State? No. You just know Penn State is a big time sports program, and you've likely never heard of SCSU. Only college hockey wonks will know that.

I will be on campus next weekend for the Alumni Association board meetings. I am going to try and make it to the JAR for one of the Niagara games.

Thanks for all of these links, TTS. And, great that you are traveling to State College for the games. You are our "new Dan" (eXeSports) for this thread (Dan began the thread way back in April, but has scaled back his contributions here, although I think that he still does radio broadcasts for home and some away games). I will not be able to see a Falcons game until Harvard, but then should be able to attend the following five also.

Good that you can get to one of the Niagara games, schiegs. I think that all of the next four games are winnable.

The Bentley Athletic Department is really promoting these two games against Penn State, with the message below.

I am thinking that we will see the same lines and D pairs for Penn State that we saw against RPI, unless there are injuries for which I am not aware. And, I am thinking that both Gabe and Doc will get a start in net again.

"Our Division I hockey team is traveling to Penn. State for two huge hockey games on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. Here is how you can cheer them on:

1. Head to Penn. State’s athletic media site found HERE, and sign up for a College Sport Live package. The monthly package will cost you $10, and give you 30 days of unlimited access to over 100 collegiate sports teams athletic events. Once you have signed up for an account, you will have access to the PREMIUM WATCH content that includes the hockey games on both Thursday and Friday evening.

2. Attend the Bentley Hockey viewing party at Shoppers Café on 731 Moody St. in Waltham! Shoppers will have the game on multiple screens for your viewing pleasure!

3. Watch the game in Seasons Dining Hall with our mascot Flex! We will have the game on multiple screens, and will have some fun giveaways throughout the evening."

I am working on rally the troops in town for the Global Alumni Board semi-annual retreat/meeting for the Niagara game. Looking like a lot of out-of-towners might be in attendance. Stay tuned.

TTS, sent you a private email on this board.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Tough 3-2 loss to the Nittany Lions tonight, who outshot the Falcons 54-26; yikes!

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

It sounds like Bentley put some great pressure on in the 3rd, but just couldn't get it in. Hopefully momentum carries into tonight's game. From the brief listening I did, and highlights I watched, these two teams seem more evenly matched than SOG indicated.
