Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

I know we're not supposed to care anymore, but for those that don't check the "All by myself" thread:

My .02 worth

Interesting. How does this play into the big scheme of things regarding the furture of UAH hockey?

Regarding a replacement, one has to wonder who in their right mind would want to take on the responsibility of trying to build a team without having a conference and all the hassles of trying to piece together a schedule?

Even though I feel sorry for the program and all its struggles...........I still hate Huntsville. :p ;) :D

Yeah, I wonder that also. Would you open it up to the outside or promote from within?

I really like what Cole had done with the program, as far as the "attitude" on the ice and hope that BSU and UAH can continue playing for years to come. But, that being said, Huntsville is still a rival............. ;)

IMHO My money is that UAH hires somebody on the inside or possibly a young coach from the outside who has nothing to lose. I can't imagine that there are many coaches out there on the fast track that would touch this situation with a ten foot pole. Furthermore, I can't help but think that the product on the ice will suffer more than it already has.

Either way this entire fiasco that has taken place over the last year or so for UAH hockey is a joke and no doubt the program has taken yet another step backwards. UAH hockey deserves better than that.

For the record, I still hate Huntsville. :)

Matt Climie may be out of the Dallas organization as Dallas signed Andrew Raycroft from the Vancouver Canucks:

http://stars.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=533628

From the article:
-------
As for Raycroft, the Stars wanted to beef up their depth in goal with a proven NHL backup. Originally, the Stars were hoping that their two star netminders for AHL Texas, Brent Krahn and Matt Climie, who led their top minor league team to the Calder Cup Finals, would battle it out in 2010-11 for the NHL backup spot.

But when Climie opted to test the free agent waters, the Stars changed tactics. The plan now is for Raycroft to compete with Krahn for the backup role behind Kari Lehtonen in Dallas, with the other one heading to the AHL squad based in the Austin suburb of Cedar Park. That may also explain the unique structure to Raycroft’s contract, with the first year being a two-way deal that would pay him $700,000 in the NHL and $105,000 in the minors. Year 2, though, has Raycroft earning $600,000 no matter where he plays.

“Matt Climie decided to explore other options, so we made the decision that we wanted to get a veteran backup in here, with Austin or with our club,” Nieuwendyk noted. “Our number one goal is to have competition for our backup role here and that’s what we’ve created - not just in training camp, but throughout the year.”

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

That's a good choice for Matt: an organization where the head coach knows him and that has two goalies ahead of him that are in the last year of their contracts---so maybe one of them gets traded for assets if the Yotes fall out of the playoff picture. The only concern that I have is that the organization also has Al Montoya, in whom they seem to at least have some trust. I'd feel better if Matt was going to be a clearer #1 with a more veteran netminder as his partner in the A, but ... hey, gotta take the chance.

I still want the Jets back.

Here is a blog with some quotes from Matt Dalton in the Boston Prospects Camp:

Also, the Galen Nagle Golf Tournament is one week away and there are still spots open to participate. This is a major fundraiser for BSU Hockey and it a blast to play in! I will even be there this year.......
