Bemidji State Beavers Hockey 2012-2013

The Beavers won't have to contend with the officials (Morris) when the games go to overtime this weekend, as she has been suspended from any further duties for that fiasco at the Ridder a few weeks back.

Thank you WCHA, I rest my case.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers Hockey 2012-2013

She let got of her stick therefore making it look so bad?

What, did she use The Force to make it fly 30 feet away while she 'let go' of it?! I mean, she plays for Minnesota, so that's possible, but I think she would have chosen a more opportune situation to use The Force in were that the case.

The confirmation bias, it is strong in this one. I don't think any of us have even tried to make the case that the officiating was good.

Especially in the case of the named official. Whatever call one thinks may have been missed, it wasn't the only one.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers Hockey 2012-2013

I don't usually complain about the officiating, but in that last game it was real bad. Hopefully it will be much improved (read: consistent) this weekend.

Wait, did this really happen?

Well... I'm sure the coaching staff is glad this season is all over with. Projected 5th, end up last.

Better luck next year Beavers. Enjoy the off season

Better luck next year! Hopefully take a long look at the defensemen minuses and put those forwards back where they belong! Offensive and not defense prospects.

Heard rumors at least 4 girls aren't returning next year? Any new ones coming in to replace them?

That's unfortunate but not surprising. When you carry such a large roster with many of the players being a long way from home, if you don't get regular ice time bad feelings are bound to surface. I don't know who the four players are but I can guess.

Everyone does it. Some worse than others. Buyer beware. :)

Wasn't all about ice time as one of their top 6 forwards will not be returning. Also a non top six, the freshman goalie, and the transfer goalie.

With their numbers I don't think anyone needs replacing....ha. However, their will be a forward transfer from Mercyhurst.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers Hockey 2012-2013

Heard Grenier wasn't getting much ice time in Mercy so hoping for more in Bemidji...just a rumour

New Centennial coach Kristi King doubles up
05/21/2013, 5:36pm CDT
By David La Vaque, Star Tribune
The next year and a half of Kristi King’s life will be spent finishing her college degree while starting her varsity hockey coaching career.

King, 21, was recently hired as the Centennial girls’ hockey coach after directing the Cougars’ junior varsity to a 19-5-1 record last season. King, who helped Stillwater win the Class 2A state championship in 2007 and 2009 and played college hockey at Maine and Bemidji State, knows her age could create concern.

“A lot of people might ask whether a 21-year-old can handle this job but I did play Division I hockey where we spent five or six hours a day at the rink,” King said. “I look at this job similar to that. I’m going to make the time for it. I care so much that I’m not going to let anything slip.”

King tallied 150 career points for Stillwater and headed to Maine. Feeling homesick, she transferred to Bemidji State after one season. She suffered a career-ending concussion in the season finale as a sophomore and returned to the Twin Cities to finish her degree. She plans to graduate from Bethel University in December 2014 with a business marketing major and communications minor.

She gained some insight in communication skills observing Bemidji State coach Steve Sertich, who King said understood how to reach different players while staying consistent.

King already has learned the differences in going from assistant to head coach. She met players last Friday and has been going about getting practice jerseys ready, designing and ordering T-shirts, meeting with her activities director and assistant coaches and setting up the scrimmage schedule.

“I already respect head coaches 100 percent more,’’ King said. “They don’t just teach the game and develop the kids. They have all the other roles.

“I’m in a new role now,” she said. “Last year I was definitely the fun coach. Not that I can’t be again this year but it’s going to be getting down to business and getting better.”

Looks like Grenier is at Bemidji next year...should do well with the right line mates.

Is it me or does that leave BSU with only the incoming freshman between the pipes?
