Re: BC Women's Hockey Offseason 2010: Stack Strikes Back
well this year- she was getting a regular shift- so i would not exactly say she did not contribute ---- if she did not play, it was due to injury/ requiring surgery
I'm not so sure one would leave an ivy league institution-
Oh my. I must humbly apologize. I certainly never meant to even remotely insinuate that this particular player has not, nor cannot, contribute quite significantly to her team's success.
Of course she has. As well as happily a very big contribution in their most important game todate, too. Nicely done.
My intention had been to try to comment only generically in answer to a question why any player might ever consider transferring from a championship team, specifically anyone who happened to be a defenseman on this one. Without attributing to any specific individuals in specific situations on specific teams, it's generally true that if you don't
feel like you made a meaningful contribution to something (whether that's actually true or not), winning can still seem a hollow consolation. No doubt it can be very challenging at times to be in the long shadow of those deemed superstars. However, it is also true that no championship is ever won by only a couple of players--and quite often it's actually those other very steady-and-reliable players who are usually out of the spotlight, that can ultimately prove to be the difference-makers in the end.
Of course, I certainly hope every player at Cornell (and everywhere else) continues to be happy, productive and fulfilled right where they are. You were all recruited for good reasons.
I know I'll most definitely be rooting specifically though for Martino to work some more magic for Cornell tomorrow.
Best of luck
