Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR
BC Women's hockey equalled their best win streak ever with the win over Harvard tonight and were honored for that and for their #1 ranking at the intermission of the men's game:

I haven't been following women's college hockey long enough to know how they stack up against great teams of the past, but tonight's performance was simply amazing. They just kept coming, one 85-foot tape-to-tape pass after another through the neutral zone. More important, as Grant was noting off-board, the streak of not allowing more than 2 goals per game continues. The second line, Field/Anastos/Capizzano, is continuing to mysteriously underproduce -- they had zero points between them this game -- but that's not for lack of possession time, they gave Harvard just as much trouble as the other lines without quite managing to put the puck in the net. Coach Crowley gave the fourth line, Doherty/McLean/Grieves, some ice time even in the first period. I don't think that was going easy on Harvard, I think that was taking advantage of having such a strong fourth line to keep the top three lines even fresher. Grieves's play has taken a step forward since her great performance at Providence during the Four Nations, and I think coach's trust in that line has taken a step forward too. The result is a team that's even more dangerous than it was a month ago. Who knows how well they can do?
Arlan was saying that he thinks Coach Crowley should be hoping for a serious game at some point over the next few months. I was expecting it here, and we got it for a period and change. I wish we were playing Minnesota, Wisconsin or Clarkson over the next few months to get a sense of how BC really stacks up against those teams. (We are playing Quinni and BU, if Harvard are national quality we'll get to play them again in the Beanpot final, and the other contenders -- Mercyhurst, UMD, maybe Bemidji -- aren't on the same plane). I would love to see them have to come from two goals behind once, just to do it. Without that, it's hard to tell just how good they really are. But boy do they look good.
