BC/UML Home & Home

Re: BC/UML Home & Home

I don't have any expectation for this weekend so I'll go with a favorite UML Theory of mine for tomorrow.

UML Theory #153: Since every Lowell fan is expecting us to get spanked tomorrow night in the home opener, it will be 3-3 with 3:33 to go in the third :p :D ;)

Well, it was 3-2 with 3:33 to go in the third. As Meat Loaf said, two out of three ain't bad :p :p :p

Re: BC/UML Home & Home

Do you define "sat back for the 3rd period and defended the one goal" with having pass after pass in their end picked off, turning puck over by players who were on it quicker? Had zero to do with sitting back and everything to do with BC not moving their feet and getting it deep and getting to work.

Good lesson for a young group of F's. Will help them come March

listen, i'm not an expert and don't proclaim to be one. the person asked what i saw and from my untrained eyes and what i could see from my vantage point, that's what i saw. If you saw differently and can see more than i can because you know the nuances of the game and i don't fine i'm good with that and appreciate you explaining what you saw and think. i do respect your knowledge of the sport. I never played it and have only been following closely for about 6-7 years.........

Don't worry about hokydope he's just ****ed that Malcolm Orr was a non-factor.

Happy BC was able to grab 2 points despite not playing well. From what I've seen HE is pretty down this year.

Edit: Wow you can't say p.i.s.s.e.d?

Re: BC/UML Home & Home

Good effort from Lowell tonight. They could have packed it in when BC scored 2 goals in 90 seconds but fought back. To state the obvious the 3rd BC goal was a killer. BC was a wall of defense in the 3rd period and locked down the game as good teams do.

Loved the way Bazin pulled Carr when Lowell had the PP with a minute left. The move backfired when BC scored the ENG, but I like the call anyway.

Overall a nice effort by the River Hawks. I like the new approach of everything going to the net. They had their chances and put alot of shots on net, granted many from the perimeter. There is no way last year's team comes back from two goals down. It will be interesting to see how tonight's game goes.

Lowell didn't have a PP at that point. The penalties at the end were matching as Lowell got their second Embellishment penalty of the night. It didn't take long for BC to get that ENG.

I thought Lowell ran out gas a bit in last half of the third. They didn't seem to have that jump in their step and did nothing with that PP with six minutes left, although BC had something to do with that. I also thought Milner had a tough time with rebounds for much of the night, the Hawks just couldn't take advantage. Gaudreau is going to be fun to watch the next few years.

A nice crowd last night at the Tsongas, although I hoping for closer to 6,000. The place looked great and regardless of the score Lowell fans had to be happy with what they saw. Is it me or does it seem like there is much more room behind the nets this year?

He was a +1 and better than 4 of BC's 6 d and by a pretty good margin.

Not arguing with you sterlippo1, just debating... BC will play better tonight

Re: BC/UML Home & Home

Not sure what you were watching. Sat behind Milner in the 1st and 3rd. He couldn't hold on to anything and left some juicy rebounds right into the slot. This was not an isolated incident. He also whiffed a couple of times trying to stop the puck with his stick...I thought he had an "ok" night, but I think a more talented team than Lowell could have put 4 by him last night. I agree with York's comment, he was square to the shooter all night, but he left a heap of trash out front for his team to take care of.

I would also disagree that Lowell didn't carry play last night. In fact, you're the first person I've heard make that claim.

One quick question....if Lowell dominated the play and was quicker to loose pucks, which is confirmed by multiple sources disputed by one, and the BC goalie was consistently leaving rebounds, where were the Lowell forwards? Were they just outworking BC along the boards and not in front? I'm confused why they didn't walk away with two points? I guess if I am BC I'd rather be lucky than good.

I'm wondering the same things. I was way far away yesterday and just got home.
Checking out this thread it seems that Lowell dominated, Milner sucks and Lowell had like a 20 minute third period power play because BC can't pass or clear the zone. Amazing to me Lowell didn't put up a 6 spot in the 3rd.
Frickin' lucky bahstuds. I'll take the win! ;) :D

There's definitely more room now.

I thought UML played well. Fun game to be at, and while it's always disappointing to lose, as a fan I can't be upset at all by what I saw last night.

Lowell put a few choice second chance shots wide/high, and BC was very good at clearing out the garbage, as I already wrote. I never said Lowell "dominated" the play, I said they carried the play and there's a big distinction. When BC had sustained possession in the offensive end they were as good as a #1 team should be, and often times I found myself expecting the light to go on before BC even took the shot because they moved the puck so well.

You guys need to toughen up and get thicker skin. Milner had some issues with rebounds. Lowell played well. These are not slights to BC. I'm apologize for not genuflecting more whilst speaking BC's praises. You've got the #1 team in the country, relax a little.

nah, that was two Eagles having the back of another Eagle that didn't see Milner spitting up rebounds in the first and third...............i still maintain however that other than the minutes before the tying goal that you knew was coming during that UML flurry and for a shot disparity such as it was, it wasn't clear to me that UML carried the play throughout most of the game, though i'd for sure agree they played a very good game............... the shot totals were a head scratcher to me..............and even i noticed the change in their style of play

My skin is thick, I'm just trying to understand the game summary in this thread. Hopefully the Eagles can turn it around and Milner can improve on controlling the rebounds. If that was in fact the case, I'm sure Lowell will be crashing the net tonight. We will see shortly.

Now that the AHL team is gone, the lines are now drawn to NCAA specifications. There is a noticeable difference and this can be found in the NCAA rule book.

My question is that was the rink kept at 200x85' or expanded to 200x90'. The rink is a few inches lower as well so maybe that's why it appears a bit bigger.

Here's what I noticed, not having Patrick Wey in the lineup was a critical loss for the Eagles. The defense at times last night for BC was suspect and Milner did leave a lot of tasty treats in front of the net.

Gaudreau's shake and bake which moved the defender out of place and schooled Carr five-hole was a highlight-reel goal. Best BC player on the ice by far.

Best comment of the night was from a couple of 10-12 year old kids visiting a local team from NY on the renovations to the Tsongas Center after an exciting first period. I may need to place into my signature.

"Dude, college hockey is such a good game, it's so fast. Yeah, and this place [Tsongas Center], wow, it's so much better than the Islanders rink [Nassau County Civic Center]"

6-3 win. Up 6-1 BC stopped playing, esp on D.

Not great but another 4 point weekend.

Malcolm Orr: keeping AAA active with all those blown tires
