If you slept through the past 3 years and woke up today you'd see merrihack in the cellar and piling up PIMS and wouldn't think twice about it.
Actually, I think they've cut down on the PM's (relatively speaking). BC currently averages MORE penalty minutes per game. As for the cellar, yup, back to reality and it sucks.

IDK, I just really, really liked the old format. I know people are generally just resistant to change, so maybe that's my issue... but it feels like the whole regular season race is a lot less enjoyable.

They ruined a good thing with the NCAA tourney too...the 12-team, 2 super regional with 6 teams each in the NCAAs format was sick.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

by the way, 6th place team in hockey east will have a chance at those wins provided they don't gag against team #11.

I guess. But if I'm 16th in the pairwise, I'd rather play 2-3 extra games against UMass than sit around for a week and wait for a series against #6. Those couple extra wins could put you over the top.

And we used to walk uphill, both ways, in the snow to get there! and we liked it!

I agree though, that's a great format and going to 16 has created the attendance problems we see today .

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

problem is, they have to be making more money off the current format than they did under the old format, right? i mean, otherwise they would ditch it. the decision makers don't seem to care about the atmosphere.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Personally I love the 16 team format. The fact that there are 16 teams has nothing to do with bad atmosphere. It has to do with being at crappy arenas and there being fewer teams at each arena. You could do a 2 super regional format with 16 teams and I bet it would be epic.

2-2-2?

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

we are Ylae* fans for the rest of the year

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

BC has killed 103 of 114 penalties, w the 5 SHG added back; it's 95%

Unreal.

Why not?!

people in the last game or two will beahtch about crappy ice conditions.

but having the 'east' play thursday at 3p & 8p, then the 'northeast' friday at 1p & 6p -- leaving the two finals on saturday at 2:30p 'east' and 7:30p for 'northeast' would be pretty cool.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

? what am I missing here

we need Ylae* who is hosting Bridgeport , to win and move up to a 3rd seed and not be a 4th seed so that Q can be #1 in Bridgeport and we can be #1 in Worcester. Am i reading the bracketology correctly? We want Worcester

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

just saw there would be another ECAC first round match up so at this point, there is an intra-conference matchup either way ................i'd still route for Ylae* to move up and see what happens

Ah got it. Too early for me to stress out over that stuff. I will say, despite our success in Worcester I wouldn't mind doing Bridgeport (probably the first time anyone has ever said that).

Edit: Just saw both eastern regionals are Friday-Saturday?!??!?! W T F
