Smoke:

A meandering movie with no real main plot, but at the end...boom it all connects. It's very different, even though it's a similar storytelling technique to movies like "Go" and Tarantino movies. I liked it a lot, worth a gander if you're into something different. Totally dialogue-based. Bonus: a young Gus From Breaking Bad and Pope From SOA are in it. :D

Civil War. I went, I yawned, I became kinda interested, and in general was not unhappy I went but won't remember anything about it in 2 weeks. Archetypal B.

I would appreciate it if a few of these characters showed more emotional maturity than the 12-year olds they are marketed towards.

Spoilers:

They made Tony Stark mundane and pathetic. That's a war crime.

Ant Man was by far the most interesting character during the fight.

None of the women were in any way necessary in this film. I hope they're paying ScarJo the GNP of Finland to participate in this.

What's the deal with Vision? I'd never heard of him, but I see he actually goes back quite a long ways. He seemed to have been stuck in as an afterthought; I would think they could do much more with him.

The trailer for Doctor Strange was excellent; I will want to see that.
I just saw it, liked it but I haven't seen all the movies before it so didn't really know all the characters. My wife is the marvel freak, she thought it was pretty good.

The Martian:

Great movie. Some really "dark humor" lines, too, which I fully enjoyed. Highly recommend.

Charade

Romance and suspense ensue in Paris as a woman is pursued by several men who want a fortune her murdered husband had stolen. Who can she trust?

Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn star. Pretty decent movie, lots of twists and turns. The one knock on it is that you can definitely tell when it was made, given the style and how the romantic subplot plays out. Worth a watch. Sidenote: Man, George Clooney looks a LOT like Grant.

Ashby:

An awkward prep HS teen chooses his grumpy neighbor for the subject of his essay. Friendship formed, coming of age, etc etc. It was decent. Had some dark moments, had some good comedy, all standard in this type of movie. I dunno if would search it out, but I wouldn't say no to seeing it.

Mountain Men:

2 estranged brothers, one who moved from the podunk town and became a successful city boy/the other who stayed behind and has no real direction, get stuck in the wilderness on a cabin trip.

Cookie cutter, but passable. Some funny moments, although the "heartfelt" moments didn't really carry the oomph that they needed.

Just saw the new Ghostbusters trailer...I am still trying to have an open mind but lord it looks mediocre.

I saw this movie when it was called St. Vincent. Seriously, it sounds almost exactly the same.

Is this a second trailer that you saw or is it the first trailer? The first trailer released - released sometime around the Super Bowl - was horrible. Actually, it had to get better in order to only be horrible.

Really? I find it hard to believe it will rise to that level.

I'm pretty sure even Jezebel will think it blows.

The sin isn't the remake or even the all* female remake, but that it's an all female remake that is going to suck as-s.

* The secretary had better be a guy.

The secretary is a guy...it is Chris Helmsworth.

And Clown it was trailer #2...which is not worse than trailer 1 (the most hated video in Youtube history...no joke) but is still pretty horrid.

A new movie has just been announced. No, this isn't a joke. Tetris.

And not just a single film. A trilogy.

Tetris.

It was leaps and bounds better than the first trailer. I'm in a generous mood so I'll give it 1.5 out of 5 stars.
