Trumbo:

About the Hollywood Blacklist in the 40's/50's (Commies). Awesome movie. The bonus stuff during/after the credits really enforce what a great job Cranston did with the role. Definitely recommend it, especially if you're a movie buff

I wanted to see it in the theater, and didn't. :( However, I will watch it at some point.

Too lazy too look it up, but it got hype, but no awards, correct? If that was the case, it's a shame. I thought Cranston was playing Cranston, until the interview with the real Trumbo during the credits. The speech patterns? Hard thing to nail, and Cranston nailed it. Absolutely nailed it.

For those who are fans of the ESPN 30 For 30 movies, a bit of news follow up to the Hillsborough tragedy documented in one of those films.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/26/footb...liverpool-trevor-hicks-jenni-hicks/index.html

While the events of that day are no doubt a tragedy, and may possibly have been prevented or lessened through different actions, I fear hindsight will allow the pendulum to swing back too far and result in a witch hunt of prosecutions that may not be warranted.
What ticapnews said: * em. I hope they go after the folks who perpetrated the cover up and put those families through hell. JFT 96.

We Are Twisted F*ing Sister:

Basically an in-depth Behind The Music, but very well done. Man, the tough road that bands have.....

Everything Before Us:

The Department of Emotional Integrity (DEI) documents all relationship activity. A 'relationship score' is given to keep people accountable for their choices. The score is public for all to see, and affects various aspects of daily life. Two couples, teenagers and early 30s, face different but intersecting challenges in their relationships within the rules of the DEI.

Used the imdb description. It sounded promising, but it was a bit more "romantic drama" than I cared for. It's still good, but could have been better. You don't have to check your Man Card at the door, but you better make sure you have it when you leave. That sorta thing.

Cold Deck:

Poker player goes into debt with a known big-timer, blah blah effing blah. Cliche, cliche, bad acting, tired plot twist, more cliche, etc. Paul Sorvino (who's all the awesome) is in it, hence me giving it a shot. Honestly, though? Don't even bother.

Gone Baby Gone...very good movie with some great performances out of Casey Affleck and Ed Harris. Ben directs the hell out of it :)

Orion: The Man Who Would Be King

Documentary on Jimmy "Orion" Ellis, who sounded like Elvis, and sorta looked like him, and was kind of marketed but not really but yeah he was as an Elvis impersonator. Bizarre story, absolutely bizarre. Talk about a tormented life, given that to get fame, you had to not be you, and that's all you really wanted. Worth a gander.

But will I have to listen to more actors with bad Bahston accents?

Saw Jurassic World this past weekend. Meh.

It's essentially the original movie only with even less likable and more annoying characters. And since it's almost entirely a rehash, doesn't even have originality going for it. I can suspend disbelief re: the dinosaurs themselves, but the decision making of the human characters was beyond stupid. Chris Pratt was the smartest character in the film, which should tell you something.

5/10.

Bryce Dallas Howard was so unlikeable I was hoping a dinosaur would eat her. And the kids...the stupid brothers...my lord!

Was that the last one? I was kinda forced to watch that, and I didn't even want to see it in the first place. First Jurassic that I watched, and I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Promised Land:

A natural gas salesman wants to lease land from the simple folk of some small town so they can frack. Insert the cliches of that storyline, including the love interest, and there you have it. Yawn.

21 Days Under The Sky:

Documentary about 4 bikers who take their vintage bikes (a couple are choppers) from coast to coast.

It was a little heavy on the mythical status of a biker (there was narrating throughout the movie), and felt more like a fictitious movie because of it. I wanted more of the events on the road and such, so it was quite different than the cyclist doc I mentioned earlier. For you bikers out there, it's still worth a watch, if only for the bikes themselves. For the rest of you? Eh, take it or leave it.
