Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Whatcha gonna do?

Re: Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Whatcha gonna do?

You folks always mention the Nazis but never England, where even most police don't carry guns. Why is that?

Don't have to. Even they have gun violence (quick Google Search brings up quite a bit), and it's easier to get away with it there, too, because no one has the ability to defend themselves. You could go all "Demolition Man" if you really wanted to; the fact of the matter is that there will always be a way to have a projectile shooter, and because of that, we must be able to defend ourselves. You cannot put your entire trust in a group to handle them, as they can easily go rogue: They have the means and the opportunity; there's no reason to wait for the motive; waiting is futile.

I'd bet more people have shot themselves accidentally "defending themselves" than actually stopped a genuine perp. It seems like every day some poor dumb Cletus' 4-year old accidentally* empties the clip of his Glock 19 into little baby Bobbie Sue's head.

* well, that's what the kid claims, anyway

What news aligns to the "police state" agenda of the media*?

- Your "Cletus" meme, so surrender your guns, or
- Joe Blow defended himself today against an attacker**

*Media goes along to "get the story".
**If that story is told people no longer feel safe and wonder when they'll be attacked and how they'll defend themselves.

One could...but they don't. But That doesn't explain why your type always turns to the Nazis, Stalin or some other boogeyman from history rather than modern countries that have gun control and are certainly much more peaceful than the United States...I can't figure out why. It's almost as if you're trying to scare people rather than educate them with real facts.

Too lazy to get the numbers myself, but I suspect the US has more blunt object murders annually (gross or per capita) than England has gun murders.

We Americans, we're a murderous lot, and we'll use whatever tool's available when the mood strikes.

Doubt it, especially considering the obvious news bias.

That's because countries like Australia has shown to cover up any gun violence and not report it in order to push the UN agenda of gun control. Are you really so naïve to believe that an oppressive regime can't happen? Heck, let's even look at the transition from the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire, which did the same thing. There is only one person that will truly, 100%, without question, defend you under all circumstances, and that is you.

And guess where most of those shoot-em-ups happen: "gun-free zones".

Gun-free zone signs are like speed limit signs: They only matter to people willing to follow what the sign says.

You can say that about any law. The only people who follow anti-murder laws are those willing to follow them.

If you believe the currently prevailing standard for gun laws somehow make American civilians safer, I've got a bridge to sell you.

The Roman Empire banned guns? I'll admit, I hadn't heard that argument before...

Re: Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Whatcha gonna do?

Flag would cite that as a reason to eliminate speed limit signs. Because FREEDUMB!

To take a page out of your book, the autobahn is one of the safest roads in the world, and it has no speed limit in rural areas. Granted, they have to do quite a bit more than back out of a parking space to get a license. ;)

That's right, only the law abiding respect laws. So, explain to me how we change all human hearts to be law abiding.

As far as safer, the day I walked around the corner of a barn on a friend's farm and there was doggy* all surprised to see me** I felt much safer with my XDM. I was just sad that I had mere Winchester (white box) FMJ target ammo on board; I would have preferred the Hornady Critical Defense JHP.

*doggy -- a rabid feral coyote
**so surprised that he stood, growled, and started to approach.

And when I go to the local minor league ballpark, I'm comforted that the drunken idiot three rows back isn't carrying a weapon.

How's this, you can play Red Dawn on your farm as much as you want if you'll let us city folk police ourselves as we see fit, too. And that might mean you needing to leave your guns at the city limits should you choose to meander into town from your friend's coyote infested barn.

I've always thought this was the obvious solution. Living way the heck out in the middle of nowhere now I actually understand why rural people who have grown up with guns and are comfortable with them like having them around. OTOH, having lived in a city I understand how batsht crazy it is to insist on having every idiot in my subway car packing. These are two completely different cultures -- let them set their own guidance.

The problem with guns is the NRA has managed to hijack the interpretation of the Second Amendment as if it's the only constitutional freedom that's completely open-ended. There are limits on every other right, but when you get to guns the herpa-derps draw the line. Brilliant job by the gun industry; terrible public policy.
