B1G Championship in Detroit

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

The Big-whatever sucks sweaty balls, and deserves to have their showplace event held in a hole like JLA, in a bigger hole like Detroit.

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

Michigan beats sconnie in the night cap despite all the sandbagging here by Michigan fans :p

I think you're mistaken. After all, Wisconsin has won its last 7 conference tournament games! That's a very significant trend! In addition, their regular-season record shows that we're due to see some wins now! :D

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

My ex-fiancee attended last years B1G Tourney. NOT a sports girl. This was actually her first hockey game ever. The following did happen:

"Oh my God! They (Gophers) are playing like sh*! This sucks! Wait, why do I care?! Oh my God, what is happening to me?! I don't care about sports! This is awesome! What the hell?! I love this!"

She just never was properly introduced into a sports fan's world. :)
Then look what happened...

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

You can thank Barry Alvarez and Gene Smith for this dumb ****. Listen to that piercing silence after goals when the horn is done sounding.

Yeah, I'm really sure an OSU @ PSU series wouldn't draw more than the 48 people at this game. Same with a UW at Michigan series.

**** you Delany.

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

At least my guys are playing well so far.
What OSU fan doesn't like an Ohio State-Michigan matchup in any sport?
I can say "Go Blue" for Michigan's next game but ONLY that game. LOL!

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

This is the most surreal atmosphere I've ever seen at a college hockey game.

I've been in libraries louder than this.

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

When I would watch the CCHA tourney going back 15 years, it never looked like many people were there.

Even when Michigan was playing.

Sounds worse that ever, but who's surprised?

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

So, I guess there is not going to be any way to watch any of these games unless you have a cable provider who carries BTN?

When Michigan was in the CCHA finals I was there in '03 & '04 and it was a full house.
But now that Michigan's game started it looks like they have about 10 more fans there than Ohio State did so that's what, 12 people total?

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

Like I said before, the CCHA dropped the 3 day format at the Joe for a reason!

The worst crowds at the Thursday games of the old CCHA "Super Six" were many times larger than what I've seen at either game today. Conservatively I'd say the crowds when Notre Dame was playing the first Thursday games in the early 21st century generally numbered around 2000. Box scores were in the 6000+ range, with that number largely driven by MSU fans. What they have at the Joe today is an absolute embarrassment, and there can't be more than a few hundred people in the building. I cannot imagine ad revenue for TV spots on the BTN can possibly justify this kind of a format.
