This is the greatest post in the history of the Internet.

Who has the bigger problem, the guys debating a topic on the Internet, or they guy who claims it's a waste of time but still takes the time to comment?

EDIT: Or anyone who cares at all about message board rep?

lol!

Only question is Donna, Gurt lives in a town that perpetually smells like a dog's a-hole, and probably spends his days sweeping the floors of the local paper plant. That gives him a perfectly reasonable excuse to be ticked at the World. What's your story? Why does a debate on an Internet message board get your panties in a bunch? Self-esteem issues?

I don't think that anyone's panties are in a bunch over this "debate." We're just laughing at you and Rubbs, but mostly just at you.

And why do you think that I live in Mosinee?

Come on Gurt. We all know you're from the town that smells like yesterday's lunch in the toilet. The job sweeping floors was just a guess, but knowing the town I am pretty confident that I'm not far off. Embrace your roots. You're a bitter old man from a town that smells like a giant land fill, and we all love you for that ;)

I know they aren't absolute numbers because I know for a fact Minnesota doesn't register their high school players, I was told in a meeting that some other states have stopped registering their Mites, and we are currently discussing not registering our Mites or Squirts.

And again, because you felt so compelled to jump into this discussion in the defense of Hockey Canada, even if you are right (which you are not), and the numbers you posted from USA Hockey are a complete representation of all youth players in the USA (which it is not), you're still left with one problem.

It means little in the context of the discussion we are having. Hockey Canada's youth enrollments are projected (by Hockey Canada) to decline over 30% by 2020. Find me a source from USA Hockey that estimates our numbers will fall that much.

And I just love the fact that you're trying to throw provincial accusations back in my face. It's your default insult when you have nothing of consequence to say.

I enjoy all hockey, but I am here to talk about NCAA Hockey BECAUSE IT IS A NCAA HOCKEY BOARD. You act like I was the one who went to a CHL board and started telling Canadians that their WJC team would be better with an NCAA coach and more NCAA players. Wrong pal, it was the other way around.

And when I asked him to support his statement that the UNITED STATES would be better off at the WJC with a CHL coach and more CHL players, he couldn't produce ONE IOTA of evidence to support his argument.

All he did was start bashing USA Hockey and talk about how much better Hockey Canada is. Who was being provincial?

I then pointed out that his wonderful Hockey Canada is expecting a MASSIVE decline in youth numbers over the next 10 years and you came running to Hockey Canada's defense. However, as I pointed out, your argument is moot for two reasons.

1. The USA Hockey numbers you provided aren't a complete picture of youth hockey in the USA.

2. More importantly, even if they were, they come NOWHERE NEAR the decline Hockey Canada is predicting.

You bring up a good point about Hockey Canada's numbers not being complete either. That very well could be the case. In fact, I would bet it is.

However, 200,000 players? Don't get me wrong, I don't WANT to see Hockey Canada's youth numbers decline. I'm with you. The more players playing, regardless of where, the better. I just didn't appreciate him coming here and essentially telling us USA Hockey and the NCAA sucks.

I do recall stating my intentions were to defend Hockey Canada but simply to correct your erroneous statement that enrollment in hockey by Canadians is at an all-time low...after stating my numbers were "crap" you then corrected yourself and stated that they will decline to an all-time low by about 200000 by 2020 and you based this on an article written by someone with dubious credentials.....if they (and you) are correct, that numbers in Hockey Canada must show a drop of 25000 per year....the numbers should be out sometime in the late spring early summer....we'll see how those "projections" hold up....

Here's the thing JDUBBS, I've been around long enough to know that Hockey Canada does not need me to defend it....back in 1980 I remember everyone saying that we (the U.S.) will surpass Canada in quantaty and quality by 2000....in 1990 it was by 2010....while the U.S. has made tremendous gains, I really can't see us overtaking Canada in the forseeable future. Hockey is just too engrained in the culture....many pundits stated a decade ago that minorities represent the only growth in the population of Canada and Caribbeans, East Indians and Chinese do not play hockey. Guess what, they do now, I believe 3 out of the top five picks taken in the last OHL draft were minorities....in short, talent from Canada is not going away anytime soon.

As for registration in the U.S., unless you can show statistics independent of USA Hockey, then your point is mere speculation and nothing more.

I actually corrected myself right after saying that if you read back. I worded it horribly. I meant that Hockey Canada enrollments are expected to hit an all-time low.

And I see what you are saying. I'm just going off what Hockey Canada themselves are saying. I don't know if their projections are accurate or not, and I really don't care too much. I was just throwing their own words in the face of a troll.

Saying the US would be better off at the WJC with a CHL coach and more CHL players (as a matter of fact) is a load of crap. Could it shake out that way some years? Sure, but more often than not, for this country, the majority of the best coaching and players are in the NCAA

I will say this. If their youth enrollments do indeed decrease by over 30% by 2020, it is my opinion that we will catch them in our lifetime, if not pass them.
