At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

Canada is a G-8 country. 33 million people with the 7th largest economy.

OK fine. Canada has hockey AND maple syrup. Without those two things, it's an overgrown Equatorial Guinea. But it is an awesome hat. China is totally jealous of our awesome hat.

Far more Canadian kids play in the CHL. On a percentage basis there would be as many American kids in the CHL. Of the Canadian kids in NCAA most are there because they could not makee the CHL.

A Brit (Thomas Hancock) applied for and was granted a patent 8 months before Goodyear.

Or because they didn't want to have to go to a sh^tty Canadian school if hockey didn't work out. Other than learning to tap a maple tree or how to fix a snowmobile engine, what exactly can one learn at McGill or Western Ontario University?

Yep. No way Jonathan Toews, Paul Kariya, Martin St Loius, Dany Heatley, etc would have ever made it in the CHL. Please

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

See how a degree at Gopher U stacks up to one from McGill or Western and you might be suprised.

Most are there because they could not make the CHL and that is the truth. You gave 4 examples that cover a 15-20 year time frame. Ridiculous!! come up with a few more please.

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

Well yeah of course. You can't go to the University of Minnesota to learn how to chop down a tree. The United States has junior and community colleges to learn that sort of thing and they manage to teach it in two years. While at McGill I can only guess you need to be a doctoral candidate to take on such a challenging endeavor. Now if you want to do something useful with your life, the University of Minnesota would be a good choice.

Sweet Jesus. Dirty is defending the University of Minnesota. I'm seeing colors I've never seen before.

Why, you can't think of any other examples on your own? This is your rant, defend it.

There were 4 Minnesotans in the CHL last year. This past year, 85 additional Minnesota boys committed to play D1 college hockey. And this season, there are 43 Minnesotans who have played in the NHL.

I think our guys are doing just fine using college hockey as a gateway to the NHL.

It's a numbers game, not an issue of development path. You have more youth hockey participation. We only have a few states that are relatively close. Far more Michigan players go the CHL route than Minnesota players do, yet Minnesota has more NHL players despite having half the population of Michigan, so there goes your "CHL rules all" argument.

Re: At Least We Have the World Jrs. During Break

I don't care how Minnesotans play where. If you paid attention I am responding to the knob who said all the Canadians coming to play in the NCAA.

Yea Minnesota is doing just great. Three times Alberta's population but Alberta has 4 times as many players in the NHL. By that count your path to the NHL ain't working. BTW both Canada and the US have about the same number of registered players, so no Canada does not have a numbers advantage. CHL players get far better coaching at a younger age. College is full of dinosaur coaches with limited exposure.

hahaha....yea relegation round....you proved me wrong!! BTW the Russians have 6 CHL players, the Czechs 10, Swedes 5. Every team in the tournament had CHL players.

I feel bad for those players when hockey doesn't work out. They'll be flipping burgers in a Kitchener Harvey's.

You're an idiot. Complete and utter idiot.

You said we would be better off using a CHL coach and CHL players.

Which American CHL coach is more accomplished than Dean Blais?

And I already broke the player situation down for you. Despite having only 4 players in the CHL last year (which is very typical), Minnesota produces more NHL players than any other US state.

So how would WE be better off using American CHL players?

The majority of the best US players play at US colleges, so I'm not sure how using more CHL players would help us.

Dubber!

You finally have an adversary worthy of your considerable debating prowess.

I believe in you. Don't let him win. Don't let America down son. Er, actually, don't let Minnesota down as I can see from your last couple of posts that you are already throwing the rest of the lower 47 under the bus.

The arrogance of Minnesota hockey versus Canadian hockey arrogance.

This could be good... :D

...or it could make me want to beat my head against a boulder.

Wow is your inferiority complex growing. I used Minnesota as an example because I know the youth numbers, CHL and NCAA participation, and NHL numbers for Minnesotans and they support my argument.

Is my point not valid? If very few Minnesotans play in the CHL, yet Minnesota produces the most NHL players, does that not hurt his argument that Americans playing in the CHL are inherently better?

If you want to put aside the bruised ego for a moment and make a rational point for or against this guy's assertation that we would be better off using a CHL coach and more CHL players, I would love to hear it. Feel free to make YOUR point how YOU see fit. But the butt hurt about Minnesotans talking about Minnesota act is getting really old.

Actually, it's not "Minnesotans talking about Minnesota," it's Dubber talking about Minnesota. In every thread. Inserting it into every discussion. I'm not thinking that I have the complex here.

Just pointing out that you and Rubber here are two peas in a pod.

Wait a minute! Dubber? Rubber? Are you seeing what I'm seeing? ;)
