At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

After reading the shooter was alive, curiosity got the better of me and I flipped on cable news.

I don't understand the story at all.

The talking heads are saying he was disillusioned about the war and didn't want to be deployed to Afghanistan.

Okay, fine. What options are available to an Army officer in that position. Can you quit, facing dishonorable discharge, courtmartial for disobeying orders, or something to that effect?

There have to be a range of options between following orders and . . . taking out a couple semi-automatic handguns and shooting up the readiness center. That makes no sense. Of course, searching for logic in these events is always dicey, to put it mildly...

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

It is my sad duty to inform you all that the shooter is still alive.

It is my happy duty to inform you that the police officer that shot this bag of $#*t is alive, despite earlier reports that she had been killed.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Admittedly this is a tertiary matter, but CBS and that mind numbing hag who fronts for their news operation, evidently settled on a narrative for this event early on: PTSD. Of the tens of thousands of people on that base, Katie spent several prime time minutes talking to some babe who's a PTSD "activist," whatever the bleep that is. And in the final toss around to the various reporters, Katie, again, mentioned PTSD. Although this piece of garbage hadn't been deployed and hadn't encountered "traumatic stress" (unless it was at his mosque or the "O" club). But hey, let's not let the facts get in the way of the story line we've decided on.

once again we have to remember that these guys are nothing more than proxies for the "truth" de jour. Fact of the matter is that he has outlets for his issues and stress. He chose not to seek those avenues. Instead of having a mental breakdown and go to the funny farm he decided to kill his fellow man. He felt that killing others was the better option.

But its a narrative for the dems of the "real underlying truth"... the real truth here is the scumbag decided that people needed to die for his problems or his misplaced sense of duty.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

On a completely unrelated note, how happy is Virginia Tech to learn that this guy, too, was one of their own?

Granted, 20 years ago...

I have a coworker whose daughter was an undergraduate at VaTech when the shooting occurred. After school she enlisted. Want to guess where she's stationed?

Let's just pause a minute and remind ourselves of what happened here. We had a field grade officer in the United States Army, a physician ("first of all, do no harm") who turns Muslim psycho and murders 12 innocent people and tries to murder 31 or 32 others. It just beggars the imagination.

And in all of the references to other killing incidents (the guy who drove his p/u into the Luby's in Killeen) I didn't hear a mention of Sgt. Hasan Akhbar. Remember him? He's the Muslim psycho who fragged three tents in Kuwait back in '03 and fired at other g.i.'s with his M-16. One dead, 14 injured. He's under sentence of death. Now I can't say absolutely positively the legacy media failed to mention this incident, but I've not seen or heard a reference to it. And it would seem to be relevant, no, given the facts as we know them today at Fort Hood. I'm sure not mentioning Sgt. Akhbar was just an oversight, right?

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Your first mistake was trying to rationalize insanity.

You're not watching enough "criminal minds". This guy would fall under "mass murderer" without the suicide part... although I'm sure he was going for that suicide by proxy. And they should have killed him and saved us all the trouble.instead we'll spend millions to keep him alive and then several millons for a stupid trial and kill him 20-30years from now. Maybe if we still have the death penalty.

Hmm FBI BAU would be asking what was the trigger? probally the coming deployment. Obviously the anger and resentment have been building up for years even as he was treating our soldiers... maybe he was called a raghead too many times or watched Al Jazera and the talking heads flaming hate.

The talking heads are saying he was disillusioned about the war and didn't want to be deployed to Afghanistan.

Maybe he should have thought of that before he joined the military.

This just goes to show you that there are sick maniacs living everywhere...not just in the Middle East.

I say we let Texas try him....

Everything this man was he owed to the Army. He was a mustang (started out enlisted) who became an officer and then a physician. And the training was provided by the Army. A professional, ironically, whose job was to counsel g.i.'s about PTSD.

The reporting so far indicates he'd had some serious problems at Walter Reed, and that's why he'd been transferred to Fort Hood. We may never know all of the details of his problems. He'd hired a lawyer to get him out of the Army, and had posted some rationalizations for terrorism.

And I'm doubtful that he heard a lot of anti-Muslim sentiment in the Army (some, probably). The guy is a Major, some E-3 smarts off about "camel jockeys," and he'd be Article 15ed in a heartbeat. Besides, this man is a psychiatrist for cripes sake, he should be equipped to handle ignorant, bigoted remarks, at least better then the average person.

It seems as though he had become radicalized and today the cork just blew. I'm guessing he wanted to commit "suicide by cop," and didn't plan to live through this event. Pity he was wrong.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

no you don't... reports are he was quite devoted and lets remember what Islam says is ok versus what is not OK... just because this is America and just because he's spent his life in American culture does not mean he cannot be a religious psycho.

If this guy were Christian and with the regularity he's supposedly attends mosque every day he would be considered some form of Christian fundamentalist and they would be working that angle. The Washington Post is already detailing his level of devotion to Islam.

While I'm sure he's probably not fundamentalist in the sense that he'd like his women dressed up in the mobile prison unit we all know as the burka he's definitely shown concern about those Muslims in their fight and struggle against their American oppressors.

Its likely religion in relation to dictates on Jihad likely played a strong role in the process of him believing that going to war against his own country was the right thing to do.

I expect this story to become very quiet after this week and we'll only hear about it in passing.

It doesn't matter to the dead, but it could matter a lot whether the voices in his head were Allah or the neighbor's dog.

I highly doubt anything about this story will become quiet. I feel for the Ft Hood community. When you are in the service everyone is family when something like this happens. It is awful to begin with, it will get worse as they disect everything about everyone involved, even on the periphery.

The guy snapped, he was being deployed and sounds like he lost it. He sounds like he was a loose screw lately. Not sure he 'went to war with his own country' He could have, but he also could have been shooting people to save them from the pain of going to war. The guy was treating folks for PTSD. They haven't found a note or any witnesses that said anything have they? The media messed up with the # of shooters and # of dead and injured. They need something fast to keep up with the news cycle. I have a problem attributing any motives to someone until they put all the pieces together. (I might of missed something but what I watched so far is a bunch of stuff about how they don't know but...it could be because....

OK, now they are saying he yelled something about Allah right before. They are quoting other Docs saying he was acting bizarre at Walter Reed- so if he was so crazy this raises a number of questions regarding w t f they were doing letting him keep practicing?
