At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Chris Matthews interrupts himself speculating about whether this is a psych disorder or an internal terrorist action to cut to a Fort Hood spokesman who is cautioning against irresponsible speculation.

Usually, it takes John Stewart's production staff to achieve that level of awesomeness.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Lighten up, Francis. The political comic opera is fun, but some things are a little more important. You served, you get it.

So these guys were part of a graduation ceremony for troops about to be deployed? We should retire the "Nice Planet" thread. :(

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Ft. Hood presser with be at 6:35. Before then it's probably all rumors and speculation.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

There is a link on the American Red Cross site to its Red Cross Safe and Well List where Ft. Hood people are registering as OK, if you are concerned about loved ones. (The page load is very slow, since there are 35k troops and family members at Hood and all their parents are probably hitting a very small server right now).

Not surprising that the Ft. Hood website has been down all afternoon.

KBH was just on the networks asking people to please use the Red Cross site because all the calls are hosing the Hood phone system.

Yes, wouldn't want to jump to any logical conclusions and ignore the obvious "holdup gone wrong" angle.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

(And would you ****wits please not bring political BS into this, just once?)

You can only expect so much class from certain people...

Terrible tragedy. I'm just dumbstruck whenever I hear about these sorts of things. I simply cannot comprehend what can drive someone to do this to innocent strangers.

I don't follow another aspect of this here: A lone gunman, but others have been detained?

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

It is my sad duty to inform you all that the shooter is still alive.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Not at large, though?

No, he's in the hospital with CID.

I'm guessing the still alive part can and will be rectified.

Military hasn't executed anyone since 1961. There's one guy who's been on death row at Leavenworth for 21 years and hasn't taken the needle yet.

Plus I'm morally opposed to capital punishment - which is why they should have greased the guy in the act.

G*d D**n "Dr." Hasan. And G*d D**n "religious" teachings that encouraged this act. I'm reminded of the Dr. in Bridge on the River Kwai: "madness, madness."

He believed in himself more than he did his country*. Islam or not this is the actions of a selfish person. Its a bigger shame that he couldn't have been drummed out sooner.

*and if he didn't want to fight then the place to fight that is through the court honorably... if you do it for your religion and "your people" then you do it within the bounds and with honor. Its a shame that mainline Islam believes that such actions are honorable and Godly. This was the cowards way out.

Re: At least seven killed at Fort Hood

Admittedly this is a tertiary matter, but CBS and that mind numbing hag who fronts for their news operation, evidently settled on a narrative for this event early on: PTSD. Of the tens of thousands of people on that base, Katie spent several prime time minutes talking to some babe who's a PTSD "activist," whatever the bleep that is. And in the final toss around to the various reporters, Katie, again, mentioned PTSD. Although this piece of garbage hadn't been deployed and hadn't encountered "traumatic stress" (unless it was at his mosque or the "O" club). But hey, let's not let the facts get in the way of the story line we've decided on.
