AOC Rules!

Re: AOC Rules!

Her statement really needs to be clarified. I remember helping out at homeless shelters back in the day, and they didn't give anything away. They charged SOMEthing for the clothing. Whether it be a dollar or a dime, they charged. Why? The people buying wanted to be able to say they bought it, it wasn't charity. The principle of the thing.

Ivanka got her handout from family, which is very different in nature. It's pretty much advanced inheritance.

So what you are saying is that the rich are fully ok with taking charity, but the poor are stigmatized for doing it. Got it.

I'm not saying that at all.

And rufus of course comes out with bared fangs, as usual. I said the statement needs to be clarified. What exactly does she mean? In her words, not any of ours. Let HER explain it.

Edit: as far as the shelter story, the buyers were demanding to be charged something; in the past, they just refused to take anything from the shelter.

He's not saying that the general populace stigmatizes the poor for accepting the handouts, rather than the poor people at that shelter felt a need to pay at least a little something for what they were receiving. These people have nothing, or next to nothing. To receive something completely gratis is just another thing they have, something many will accept when they perceive there to be a dire need - winter weather gear, for example. When they pay for an item, it's matter of some level of pride, even if what they're paying is pennies on the dollar. Most people on the streets do not operate with the same mindset of the average person.

As for rich people taking charity - who do you think is the biggest receivers of welfare in this country? The rich have no qualms, no sense of betrayed pride, when receiving something for nothing.

Which is what I was pointing out in my original post. The hypocrisy of Ivanka Trump is so vast, so huge, so large, that it cannot be measured by any known measurement.

Let's get things straight. Rich people love getting stuff for nothing. That's how they stay rich, and that's how they get rich.

Bared fangs? Never realized you were so delicate.

Plus, as the "centrist" you claim to be, I must have missed all the times you came running to the defense on these boards of Obama, Hillary, or any other person not with a 'R' after their last name.

Yet, with the Trumpers, it's every single freakin' time.

Right, the poor have been stigmatized SO much that they demand respect by paying for things they can't afford- like a coat or food.

Whereas Ivanka is going to take whatever is left of grandpa's money, and hope to not pay any taxes on totally unearned income, based on what sperm spawned her, and that's totally ok.

Let alone the HUGE amount of money they make and shelter it from taxes, or the tax breaks they get to attract businesses to places. etc etc etc.

Rich=take as much as you want
Poor= it's your fault you are poor.

Look back at what St Clown said. He gets it. If the poor pay a nickel, they bought it. It wasn't charity. It's the principle.
Now, to Ivanka, what is her definition of a handout?:

Welfare
Food stamps
College loan forgiveness
If you want to stretch it, stadiums for pro sports owners (they don't own stadium, but reap added profits)
etc

That's why I asked for clarification of her comments in the first place. What is her definition of a handout?

I think you should watch last night’s Daily Show.

Re: AOC Rules!

Thank you, and I will say she worded that VERY BADLY. I know what she means, and I dunno if she could have worded that any worse. To me, that's her "out of touch reality" moment. Most of us want to legit earn our dollar. We really do.

If that is not the general opinion of this country...I might join up with Scooby and say I want no part of this country anymore.

Re: AOC Rules!

No we don’t. We all want freebies. Did you not watch the part where he said that people mow down kids to get a free T-shirt? Or push each other’s out of the way to get free **** at the Oscars?

I’d rather do nothing and get paid for it than have to work. But that’s not the reality we live in so I work.

I'd rather work. I fear the time I can't do the job I do. I honestly do. It is selfish, don't get me wrong, I'd be bored to death otherwise.

Re: AOC Rules!

We are not lazy.
But hey, if we don't have to work for anything, fine with me! Woo hoo free stuff!
Ivanka: Most people don't want handouts.
Opposition: BS!

Normal people: then work for something.
Opposition: well if we don't HAVE to, we won't.

See the issue??

Re: AOC Rules!

Almost everyone wants to work a job that they truly love.

A lot of us get into one line of work, and 6-18 months later think, "Well sh*t, this isn't really what I dreamed about."

So we fall into the "it pays the bills" trap.

According to Republicans, most people want to sit around and collect welfare and food stamps, and let the government provide for all their needs.

Haven't you been listening?
