I love my boss lecturing our area about a drop in productivity.

Can it be we're burned out?

Can it be we're tired of working 6-7 days in a row with no adequate time to recharge?

Can it be we have various body parts that ache and cause pain?

Can it be our mental health is suffering right now?

Can it be some of us just aren't sleeping well and our department averages maybe 3 hours of sleep a night per person?

Can it be her total lack of empathy and overwhelming emphasis on stats and where we rate in the market?

Can it be several of us mentally checked out weeks ago and have told each other "as soon as something better comes, we're leaving?"

Can it be some of us are older and don't move as well as we used to?

Can it be that some days are just awful and we need 3 pints of Ben & Jerry's to cope?

Nah. We just "don't want it enough. You just gotta try harder."

Sounds like every boss in Retail. BTW shit runs downhill, she is getting shit on by management and guess where you lie in the chain?

Probably a pizza party at best…

So a crappy frozen pizza that goes with bad beer.

edit- $5 is roughly a half hour, right? Work so hard to save hours of work, and get a half hour bonus. If you can spend the "bonus" at work. I think I would be an ass and point out that I'm not going to go the extra mile for an extra half hour of pay. A day off with pay, maybe.

"I said hustle, you went slower!"

Pretty much what I'm doing.

Next step for me is the line lead and the Store Director.

While I'm there, might as well advocate for those who may not have the courage to speak.

Meijer, all of the stores, have Sandy, a penny-operated horse kids can ride.

If I am going to get fired... that would be the way to go.

So I finally made new friends at work for the first time in... actually in 15 years. And we were at lunch today and it turns out one of them (a EE) went to Pratt and the other (Navy vet, cyber expert) went to Tisch, and there the three of us were, eating ribs, and that's who ran the war machine of Late Stage Capitalism America in 2021; tell your grandkids. Consider this our Burmese Days moment: Oxbridge Latin scholars squeezing (bombing, whatevs) the locals for the Raj (Wall Street, whatevs).

We were informed no more overtime for any reason today.

Hooray for malicious compliance. If things aren't done before end of shift, oh well. And if they're short, no one can come in.

I worked from the office last Friday for the first time since April 2019, and it was so, so weird. A few of my co-workers also went in to start cleaning out our cubes. I recycled 22 years worth of documentation.

I thought I wanted to go in and work, but I think I'd be fine with 1-2 days a week. I disliked it more than I thought I would. Plus the lighting gave me a headache after a few hours. How on Earth did I do that every single day for 20+ years?

The company is back to requiring masks outside your personal work space, so that's another good reason to stay at home.

Not really. I?ve only made a couple friends at work. I?ve tried to keep my two lives separate and only a handful of people do I hang out with outside of work regularly.
I think I invited five or six to my wedding?

I will occasionally have a drink with my coworkers/employees after work. And since a few of us really like fishing, we might do a day of fishing like once or twice a year. But yeah, otherwise I keep work and personal life separate. I won't even accept friend requests from anyone in my company on Facebook (yes I still use Facebook but it's carefully curated so I rarely if ever see any derp)

Sic's on-brand cruelty aside, it doesn't speak well of me, and I know that.

I have several Work Friends, but I have an eye on developing Real Friends now.

Dr. Mrs. has many friends but they are typically 4s-6s on the intimacy scale (where say your best childhood/college friend is a 9). I don't really consider true friendship to start until you're in the 7s.

It is difficult to form really close friendships as an adult.

My work friends are some of my closest friends.

moving back to Minnesota when you’re 30 is terrible. Everyone is married and Minnesotans are famous for not expanding friendships beyond what they’ve always had.

I struggled making new friends as an adult. So I ended up friends with some people I work with.

guess I don’t really care where they come from.

I have not had a whole lot of close friends, but I have moved a significant distance quite a few times and have left behind some very good ones. My loss.

For you.

For me, it became easier after I came out and I started attracting my people.

My Meijer co-workers I generally wouldn't hang out with because most of them are in their early 20s and don't know much about anything.
