"People just don't want to work anymore."

"People just don't want to work anymore."
Which is really just “we need people back at the office to justify these huge office complexes we built”."People just don't want to work anymore."

Again, righties aren’t wanting people to get back to offices because they think people are “sneaky and lazy”, it’s to protect their real estate investments. Less people in the office means less office space is needed, and righties have a fuckton of corporate real estate investments.Apparently DHS just block-approved everyone who is working remote to continue, in perpetuity, even after the plague ends, if they want to. Their savings in overhead, commuting benefits, etc is huge.
The entire USG may follow.
It doesn't affect those of us in cleared space, but it's a huge repudiation to the cavemen who said remote would never work because "people are sneaky and lazy." No. Righties are sneaky and lazy. People work to be fulfilled.
Little by little, the petty overseers are losing their grip. White collar work serfdom is dying. Blue collar work slavery is, sadly, very much alive, and a lot of workers will vote to protect it!

Pulled down the first aid kit at work today. The bacitracin expired during the Obama presidency.
Thanks, Obama.
Worked 12 hours yesterday. Thankfully, this is not a regular thing. Today I am tired and unfocused. Further cements my opinion that I'd like my health care providers to not be working long hours.
Question: when the song/movie '9 to 5' came out, did people actually work those hours? I have never started work that late, nor had just 8 hours without a lunch time added
They did, and often do (though 9 often becomes 8 or 8:30 and 5 is as likely to become 4 as it is 6).
I have a 9-5 job, although I haven't worked only 40 hours in some time. I go out of my way to limit hours worked (working from home means you're just a room away...), but even though I may technically "start checking out" at 5, I'm almost always on until 5:30-6 when my girlfriend peels me away. And today I got started at 8 for a meeting (holy hell, scheduling a bunch of oncology and pharmacy staff it difficult). I have meetings until 6:30 today.
If there's a better thread...
