YMMV

This work for ya, then? :D

Anne Hathaway is womanly, a fine actress, and — if you’ll forgive the expression — stacked. Most importantly, her sexual heat was the only thing memorable in the otherwise forgettable “Get Smart” remake. And if she can bring smoke to that fluff…

Catwoman must be sexy, intelligent enough to credibly come off as a formidable foe opposite Batman, and look good crawling around in tight leather.

Check, check, and double-check.

Catwoman should have chemistry with Batman that is, ahem, conflicted. Give 'im the old 6-minute mark:

Is it confirmed she's going to be Catwoman in this one? I mean, we all know that Selina Kyle eventually becomes Catwoman, but do we know that it's going to happen in this movie, or are we all assuming? The actual press release doesn't mention anything about Catwoman, if I've heard right. Everyone added the Catwoman angle after the fact.

Considering the character of Selina Kyle is pretty lame, there is no point in hiring a big name actress to play her unless she is in fact going to be Catwoman. Since Nolan and Bale are gone after this movie there is no need to tease Catwoman for the next flick because it will be a completely new movie.

Long story short, if she doesnt actually become Catwoman in the movie I will be shocked.

For those of you with a more comic book background, have the Nolan-led films been more true to the comic book fan at the expense of the average viewer or vice versa (if the the choice had to be made and if that makes sense)? Speaking as somone that never read any of the comic books, I come into the movies with really zero background or inclinations about what 'should' take place.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

IMO he has walked the line perfectly not sacrificing one for the other. Batman Begins was a great jumping on point for anyone who knew nothing about the comics while still having a ton of references to various comics over the years. (Batman: Year One being the main influence) That was one of the reasons it was so successful, I mean geeks like me can go see it a few times and look for little Easter Eggs and so on and we can also bring our friends that wouldnt know Batman from Catwoman and they can enjoy it right along with me. There is just enough source material for us, but not so much that the average fan will be confused the whole time.

Those of us discussing what stories/characters should be used next is just preference stuff. Just like in the comics there is no logical next step because all the next steps could work. They could have gone the way of Black Mask and it would have flowed seamlessly based on the mob story that has run along the first two films. They could have used Hugo Strange because after TDK Batman is supposed to be hated by the public which is part of the plot of Batman: Prey. (Strange starts a huge campaign turning the public against Batman while trying to use his psychological background to figure out who Batman is) Using Bane makes sense because Bane can be shown to beat the Bat mentally and physically cauing the hero/villain fight we really never got. (Batman and Ras was pretty short, and the Joker was never about hand to hand combat though he did get in some nice pipe shots :p )

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Do we know for sure this is the last Nolan movie?

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

BB & TDK are the two best Batman movies. I'm not a fan of the campy flicks. I feel the same about the new Bond movies as well.

Nolan has said as much and Bale has said he is gone when Nolan is. Since neither's career is tied to the franchise I would take it at face value. (especially Bale who already said he would not do a Justice League movie)

That's really too bad. Good for them, though, getting out before it becomes and it ruins their legacy.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

If we learned anything after all of our Ledger-Joker debates, it's that Nolan knows exactly what he's doing. I'm not expecting Hardy to be some horribly 'roided out maniac at all, at least not cartoonishly so. Catwoman was inevitable I figured so I can't get worked up over that even though it's been done to death. This will be good.

I hope that having two villians does not clutter Nolan's Batman. Kilmer's Batman suffered from TwoFace/Riddler and the Clooney Batman was just plain awful with Bane/Poison Ivy/Mr. Freeze.
