America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 - Part 2 - Deathers vs. Commies

Re: America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 - Part 2 - Deathers vs. Commies

This is going to be quite the upcoming presidential race if Obama can't follow through on any of his campaign promises and the GOP picks some nitwit to lose to him. We either need a third party or the complete annihilation of the DNC or GOP. Or maybe we should just destroy both in the name of good fun.

Looks like Obama may have been bending the truth in some of his examples from his health care speech last week:

It would be great if politicians had to footnote their speeches like an academic paper. Obama actually did that on his web site during the campaign. In general, whenever anybody quotes a number in a political speech, the first reaction should be "source?"

No Backbone vs No Brain. Wot a country!

Unless the GOP comes up with somebody completely new, the only retread that would be useful in winning their nomination would be Paul. Not a hope in hell, of course, but it would be amazing to have a candidate who was actually sincere when he talked about a balanced budget. (For that matter, it would be great to have a Republican who could think his way out of a wet paper bag.)

Yes, he'd be interesting too. An Obama-Newt debate would leave about 90% of the country scratching either their head or their balls.

Maybe now would be a good opportunity to become a British colony again. "Err, no hard feelings about that little revolution a couple hundred years ago, Queenie?" ;)

But there is more to that Washington Post story:

Bill, you're correct. Check out these from the same poll:

1. Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as president? Do you approve/disapprove strongly or somewhat?

-------- Approve -------- ------- Disapprove ------ No
NET Strongly Somewhat NET Somewhat Strongly opinion
9/12/09 54 35 19 43 12 31 3

3. Overall, which party, the (Democrats) or the (Republicans), do you trust to do a better job in coping with the main problems the nation faces over the next few years?
Both Neither
Democrats Republicans (vol.) (vol.) No opinion
9/12/09 48 28 3 19 2

4. Who do you trust to do a better job handling [ITEM] - (Obama) or (the Republicans in Congress)?
9/12/09 - Summary Table*

Both Neither No
Obama Reps (vol.) (vol.) opinion
a. The economy 48 37 1 12 2
b. Health care reform 48 36 1 12 3
c. The federal budget deficit 50 36 1 12 1

6. Overall, do you have a favorable or unfavorable impression of Barack Obama? Do you feel that way strongly or somewhat?
------- Favorable ------- ------ Unfavorable ------ No
NET Strongly Somewhat NET Somewhat Strongly opinion
9/12/09 63 40 23 35 12 24 2

Highlights are my own. All in all, it don't look good for the GOP.

I'm in deep ****. I can't pretend to have any tolerance for Manchester United.

Or Chelsea for that matter.

Good thing we aren't going to be invaded by Scotland, because I can't stand Rangers either.

That's fine; neither can 9/10 of the Brits. :D

ManU is just the Yankees without roids.

Didn't we essentially have that exact same presidential race in 2004?

From the same poll, Obama's approval numbers from month to month are generally still trending downwards, both for the way he's handling the job as president and as an overall impression. The exception is a slight uptick in his approval rating as president (from 46 to 48) for 9/12, which isn't surprising given that the poll was taken just after he gave his latest speech. Whether that uptick is just a blip, time will tell.

Of course they are. Nobody's going to maintain 70% approval ratings throughout their Presidency. If that's the standard, no President would have ever been re-elected except for maybe Washington since he did win unanimously back in the day (although I think ACORN may have had something to do with that  :D ).
