Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Now this update from crazyland, your reporter Old Pio:

I just went to the UAA results thread (where they are celebrating another Kane LaFructose crushing hip check) and challenged Suze to apologize to Patrick Wiercioch. You know, for repeatedly saying Patrick wasn't hurt? Her response? She has nothing to apologize for and she didn't call Patrick a liar.

It's obvious logic is not her long suit. Let's see, she stated unoquivically that Gwoz was lying about Patrick's injury that, in fact, "he wasn't injured." So if Patrick said he WAS injured, that would make him a liar, no? And the proof, if any were needed, was that he didn't play in last night's game. Maybe Gwoz held the kid out just to make her look bad. I expressed the view that nobody could be grandiose enough to think that..

I have no idea where this mean-spirited, mendacious, ignorant, stupid, paranoid woman got her reputation for being "one of the good guys." And maybe this incident isn't typical. But she has exposed herself here as more than just one taco short of a combo plate.

This is Old Pio reporting from crazyland.

By Gwoz not playing an obviously unhurt Wiercioch against UND just proves the great lengths he will go to continue his obvious lie. We must not allow this miscarriage of justice to continue.

Yeah, if you peel away the layers from this "controversy," you're left with one question: was Patrick hurt or not? He was, and it doesn't strike me as unreasonable to expect her to apologize for her repeated implications that he was lying.

You're left with an image of her in the darkened basement of her igloo, shaky index finger poised over the rewind button of her DVR, large tumbler of gin (with a straw) in her hand, muttering, "that G.D. Gwozdecky's not getting away with THIS." I just cracked myself up. :D

So are you, "oh great Pio fan", going along with the presumption that it was a lie that Wiercioch is injured?

Maybe you should consider trading in your Pio sweater for a C-Woof sweater...

Does she have a polar bear rug in the basement of her igloo?

So this year, I'm not getting any games, which sucks, but I would love to call a meeting of the minds at Campus Lounge for some night while I'm home so I can buy a round for all of you.

You calling for a meeting of the minds is absolutely hilarious. Believe me when I say that Jimbo (having been the main mind) would have been the last person to have you along for a meeting after the way you have disrespected the Pio program, Gwoz and our good fans recently.

I can't wait for tonight's game. Now that I finally caved and bought the sports package, I am getting spoiled. What a pleasure it was to see our team last night. I have a feeling I picked a good year to pony up!! Meanwhile it looks like NESN is carrying the UNH (University of No Hardware like the Mainers like to say) and BU. This is always a good game. So who will be on the scoring thread?

Once I regain my composure, I'll be there. I mean, Michigan gets spanked by OSU for the sixth straight time (another rule, TV announcers only allowed to say "big house" once a game--anything more and they're required to watch the UAA highlight slide). And Notre Dame loses in 2 overtimes at home to UCONN. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Looks like that obnoxious twerp Charlie (look at my Superbowl rings) Weiss is on his way out, big buyout and all.

So this has been a very tough day for me, but I'll be there, God willing.

Heading out to the rink soon, so GO DU!!!!

No. I'm not. I just think that it's time this whole thing was dropped.

Nothing I said disrespected Gwoz or the program. And as for your attitude toward me, I have only met you once, so the fact that you don't like me makes absolutely no difference to me at all. And Chris, if you honestly feel that I have disrespected Jimbo, I do apologize for that. While I don't apologize for thinking that there is no need for people to be rude, even in the face of rudeness, I liked Jimbo a lot, I really enjoyed his visits when he stopped by Mustard's to see me and say "Hi" (he often didn't bother ordering anything) and I wish that I could have a beer with him when I'm home. As for the other fans, I think that I will let them speak for themselves.

OK, here's the thing...

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

You better be sending a lovely Turkey Day gift basket to Scott Bokal and Brian Thul. Show your appreciation for their hard work in making the sweep possible. :)

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

Congrats on the weekend sweep DU. Two close, hard fought games.

I have nothing against you, nor do I dislike you. :)

I just have something against some of your recent posts which rubbed me the wrong way. I was raised from a baby with the DU program, by a man (Jimbo) who represented what being a true Pioneer supporter is, as witnessed by his plethora of awards and friends from the program. I just have a different view from you as to what being a true, whole-hearted supporter of the program is.

I agree.

You guys did a great job this weekend.

Cheverie will go down in the history of the WCHA much like Mannino... great for the DU program and a relief to all opponents when he turns pro. :D

How it must suck to be a UW fan and realize that Wiercioch committed there first. :D

Cheverie just might be in the midst of a historical, record-setting year, if he can keep it up. The dude is locked in...

That may very well be, and I can respect that, but when you look at what I said, the only thing I did was to criticize a person for what I felt was being overly harsh. I never said anything negative about the team, the program, the coach, or anything connected to DU. In fact, I don't think I ever said anything in support of Suze's assertions. And yes, I respect that you took up for someone who you consider a friend and ally who you felt was being attacked. Which is exactly what I did. I don't agree with Suze on this whole issue, but what I really don't agree with is personally attacking someone for having an opinion, no matter how wrong you think that opinion is.

In short, to me, part of being a true supporter of a program is trying to make sure that we DON'T have our version of Randy May, who makes the entire CC fanbase look bad, even though we know that most of those guys are great fans. That said, I don't actually think that about Old Pio, and I owed him an apology whether he accepts it or not, and while I enjoy arguing with him in political threads, I would rather not do that in DU threads. But I felt someone was being treated badly, and I took that up. It had nothing to do with hockey.

And what I said about your dad was the truth. I didn't come down from Alaska for the purpose of going to his service at DU, but I was really glad to be in town so I could be there.

Re: All Things DU XXV - Murray Up and Get The Chevy Out of The Repair Shop

The other teams should just forfeit now:

"All of a sudden they look like the Soviets of '72 or the Oilers of '84," Pioneers coach George Gwozdecky said.

:(

Congrats on your National Title DU. Although I doubt the 72 USSR team needed that type of "assistance" from the refs to win it. ;) :D

That's too bad though...only 12 games into the season and we already know the champ. Would have been nice to watch how the rest of the season played out...
