Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Doing two photo shoots today. This morning I got up early and went and shot the DU mens' lacrosse practice at Barton Stadium - even got to have a nice chat with coach Tierney. This evening I'll be shooting the DU hockey game against McGill. Busy, busy, busy!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Can someone tell me what the "new" PioneerVision includes?
Home games stream? Except the 6 on Root?
Away games? Is there stream or audio?
No schedule past tonight's game?

IMHO. DU's lack of communication/transparency to PioVision subscribers has been a cluster .... (fill in the blank)

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

DU78, waiting for you to call "game day"--won't be official until then

Much improved lighting in Magness.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

I've been feeling really nostalgic all day. A consequence, no doubt, of advancing age. Watched Northwestern upset Wisconsin and recalled all the happy Saturdays at (then) Dyche Stadium with Dr. Pio (he was a professor of surgery). And very fondly recall the time Ara's 'Cats dropped about 45 on Notre Dame.

Then tonight DU hockey returns. And we start another season with my hockey colleagues. I've been thinking how much DU hockey has meant to me, personally and professionally. And thinking of Murray, Maggie and Frank Daly. And so many others.

Then I've been thinking about the new ice crusher I got which enables me to make Crown Royal snow cones. And all is right with the world.

Oh, and I've been reminded that CC sucks!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

The last time DU won an exhibition game against a Canadian University was 2009. Ruegsegger, Rakhshani, Colborne, Donovan, Kyle Ostrow and William Wrenn got the points that night. And the score was 3-2.

Monty seemed most impressed by Plant, Heinen and Hammond of the freshmen. Felt both goalies played well.

Would guess the top 2 lines are almost firm.
Moore-Doremus-Loney
Heinen-Shore-Marcinew--may be the changeable part

I was surprised by how active Nick Neville was.
Nothing on postgame or DU website about Viva.

Didier, Tabrum, Romig, Ritt and VanVoorhis did not dress.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

I'm a little late with my critique here. Sorry. The new Doremus line has potential to be our hero line. Hope he keeps those guys together. Big big things coming from them.....maybe. The lights in there are finally.......awesome. My goooooooooodness that took a long time for someone to figure out. The jumbotron is really impressive. Not Cowboys stadium impressive.....but, on the right track and we're finally competitive with similar peer arenas. Even our announcer seemed more in to it, calling out the students point blank. They have a good product now at DU. I applaud that. Now can we lower the beer prices a smidge??? Our long, grueling, 60 mimute Pre season is over.... now starts the march to another national championship. right here, right now. DEE YOU

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Funny how the EGulls up in Loveland have gone from a heavily DU alum team to no DU alums. Now they have UNDies and Tigers and a coach from both too, with six or seven spots to fill soon. The EGulls are now affiliated with Calgary and Adirondak.

I noticed that too. Most playing in Europe, but just found Knowlton in Toledo with Coach Lalonde.
Has Ulanski retired or on his annual holdout?

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

There are some "lost boys" on the alumni list.
(Pio and last known team affiliation)

Geoff Paukovich-- Las Vegas ECHL--Las Vegas on hiatus--trying to find a rink for next season
Aaron Mackenzie--Denver CHL--living in Boulder
Matt Glasser(7)-- Denver CHL
Tyler Ruegsegger(6)--Reading/Hershey
Jussi Halme--JYP (Finland)
Kevin Doell--Vasteras IK (Sweden-1)/Cortina)
Peter Mannino-Wilkes-Barre AHL--had a tryout with Tampa Bay
Kevin Ulanski--Colorado ECHL
(heard an unofficial rumor he might show up with the egulls after training camp is over--in time for the holidays)

BTW, Dustin Jackson, no longer with Blackhawks marketing/junior hockey, is putting his MBA to use as an associate of Silicon Valley Bank

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Based on the Pios undefeated weekend, up 2 spots in the Uscho Poll, now #16.

It is time to get back on the front page, RPI comes to visit Friday!

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

In his 100th NHL game, Joe Colborne had the only goal scored in the shoot out..
In his 300th NHL game Tyler Bozak had 2 assists. He now leads the Leafs in scoring 3-3=6
In 2 games Paul Stastny's 3 assists leads the point total for the Blues

Closer to home, Josiah Didier's 1 goal and 2 assists was tops in the scrimmage. Viva, Doremus, Romig and Heinen had the other goals

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

DU announced Pio Vision Schedule today.

The University of Denver will stream video for 12 of its home games, and stream audio only for its other 22 regular season contests on Pioneer Vision, the DU Division of Athletics and Recreation announced on Wednesday. The Pioneers six home games that will not have streamed video on Pioneer Vision will air on ROOT Sports.

http://www.denverpioneers.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/101514aab.html

Previously announced DU will be on CBS Sports Network three times late in the season on the road at CC and SCSU

http://www.nchchockey.com/page/show/878695-tv-schedule

DU's road games in the NCHC will be streamed on video for a fee on NCHC.TV

http://www.nchc.tv/

Basically that leaves the two games at Cornell and the two games at the Dartmouth Showcase (Dartmouth and Brown) that aren't available for viewing on TV or the Internet.
