Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

I felt sorry for Tanner....his big debut....and he didn't last 3 mins. I sure hope he can play or suit up next week in Duluth Harbor. After the game, we went next door to Joy Burns to catch the first period of the DU club team vs. UNC. They had some injuries too...one kid for UNC Greeley ruptured his spleen. Ouchie. Hope for the best for all players. Interesting that we walked right in to Joy Burns ( it was packed)....and did not have to buy a ticket. Whereas in Greeley we have to pay to get in the Ice Haus. I don't know who won that game. We left early because my wife was chilled too the bone. LoL

I think on the postgame Monty said Tabrum was "walking on his own."

So the club team packs them in and for the varsity the student section was less than full:confused:

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Overall, I'd like to see Montgomery be able to land Matthews. It would be good for DU to be known as the destination for the top recruits from the west (states like Arizona, California, etc.) Also, he could have a decent impact as a freshman. I just don't know what kind of overall impact he'd have at whatever college he might choose--he's wavering on college, he's talked about as potential #1 draft pick in 2016, etc. It just has drama written all over it, and it's probably a one year-and-done situation.

So I'll be pleased if he chooses DU, but to some extent these trophy recruits are mostly just that...trophies. Seems to me that Montgomery's philosophy doesn't involve trophy collecting...except for the kind of trophies you can put in a trophy case.

1 trophy recruit per year, I can live with that

Ithaca hotel recommendations appreciated. Stapler too pricey. Driving up early December for Cornell games.

Matthews is only a junior this year. He could play in the WHL , USHL, or double up on classwork if he wants to go the NCAA route. Jack Eichel did that this year to go to BU. But as you said he is a trophy recruit and could only be expected to stay in school for 2 years tops.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Do we know the status of our two injured players from last week?

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

We better hope that Cowlwy is strong this weekend!

BTW noticed the Mash line was short Jacobson both nights last weekend.

Janssen played there Friday and Hawkinson on Saturday, Neville and Hammond also rotated on D last weekend

In case anyone wonders, I'll be "joining in progress" tonight as I'll be watching Oak Park HS close out its regular season at home. How great is it to be living in a time when I can be sitting on my a*s in Phoenix watching my old Chicago area high school play football?

Jaillet is in Daloot and will be backing up Cowley tonight. Tabrum also in line-up so injuries aren't an issue. Van Voorhis on D tonight. Also Jacobson in line-up.
