Coach Lassonde has joined the Dartmouth Men's Hockey staff as an Associate Head Coach.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Boston College visits Magness Arena on October 31st and November 1st. Denver plays in the Dartmouth Showcase on January 2nd and 3rd. Along with the host school, Brown and BC will be there. I suppose there's a chance DU and BC could meet a third time in the regular season.

And we've got fearsome Canisius right where we want 'em. . .off the schedule. Let's hope BC's C.J. Parsons can't skate.

Definitely looks like a tougher non-con schedule than this season.

I doubt DU will face BC at Dartmouth. It is a showcase with pre-determined match-ups. My guess is DU faces Dartmouth and Brown

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

There is no shortage of college hockey tournaments played from mid-December through and including New Year's Day Weekend. Next year's Dartmouth Showcase, with the host school, Brown, BC and Denver is one such event.

In the world of sports there is also no shortage of predictions. Here is one such guess and it is being made well in advance of the 2014-2015 college hockey season. Just for the sake of chuckles and grins let's say this composite prediction turns out to be right on the money. It would certainly make the Dartmouth Showcase an entertaining collection of games.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Real strong non-conference schedule for the Pios. Unlike last year, out of conference wins are going to go a long way in getting into the tourney. Last year, DU possibly could have swept their OOC schedule and not made the tourney on PWR because it was so weak. DU is in a position this coming year to make the tourney based on PWR if they are successful in their OOC schedule and not have to count on the auto-bid to get in. I expect the NCHC to be a dogfight right to the end again.

And this coming season for reasons we're all aware of, we have every expectation that the Pioneers won't step on their collective johnsons and get off to such a poor start, even with a tougher OOC schedule.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Just wondering...
NLI signing period began last week and there's been no news from the Pios.

Unofficial 2014-15 recruits Unofficial
Danton Heinen F Surrey BCHL 6' 160
Tariq Hammond D Okotoks AJHL 6'2" 185
Sean Mostrom D Rio Grande NAHL 6'3" 205
Blake Hillman D Dubuque USHL 6'2" 185 (could be 2015-16)
G Tanner Jaillet Ft. McMurray AJHL 2.11 GAA .929 Sv% 7 SO

Who replaces Lassonde and when will we hear?
Coach Lassonde has joined the Dartmouth Men's Hockey staff as an Associate Head Coach.
seems like an odd move, no? asks JD
No, Lassonde leaving Assoc. Head Coach at UNH and coming to Denver as an assistant coach seemed odd to me. Seemed like a step down. He had a good 3 years at DU--2 All Americans and coaching at the WJC. Assoc Head Coach again at Dartmouth.

Larraza and LaLeggia--Co-Captains ??

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Since the official schedule is out, it's that time again.

Today is April 24, 2014.
There are 163 days until DU's next game.

This is based on the exhibition game with Magill on October 4, 2014 for the start of next season.

Thanks to Ralph Baer official keeper of the calendar and poster extraordinaire:)

Shoot. I'll just barely have enough time to submit my ice and Crown Royal orders.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Denver stands at #4 in this week's lacrosse rankings.

The men's team plays its final regular season home game this Saturday, at noon, against Marquette. The game is likely to sell out by midweek so if you're a local alum you might consider stopping by the ticket office early in the week. I did earlier this morning.

The weather forecast for Saturday looks favorable calling for a high in the low 70s. Good weather for spectators so get a ticket for the game.

As I said, get your tickets early since this one should be a sellout. And it is!!

Forecast is still looking good with temps in the 70s and sunshine. Got my ticket. Hope to see some lax fans there tomorrow.

You might want to place your ice order but hold off on delivery as I don't think it would last through the summer heat. Although you could buy a big freezer. Finally seeing some green in my lawn although not many leaves on the trees yet. Waiting for my Magnolia to bloom.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

I feel like I'm tugging y'all's sleeves here....do I have to throw myself at you to get a bonafide answer?? :) One more time, and then I promise I will not bring it up again. There was some chatter detected about the NHL holding an outdoor game in Denver - further insinuating that Coors Field would be the venue, and also assuming the Colorado Avalanche would be involved. There was also chatter picked up that there may be a teaser, or warm-up game featuring perhaps college or semi-pro teams again, also assuming one contestant team would be from Colorado. Now that DU's schedule is out, with no mention of this "rumor" - does anyone know if this is officially a dead issue (meaning for DU; not nessecarily for the Avs)? At this point, is it possible, or even reasonable to think that the DU schedule could still be amended to reflect something like this??? Thank you in advance, for someone out there to answer this with sincerity and honesty.

Sniff. I smell mint juleps and the Derby.

And just to prove I'm never very much out of my comfort zone, the Derby reminded me of My Old Kentucky Home, which reminded me of the late Happy Chandler, which reminded of this extraordinary Wildcat moment. I don't think we'd ever want DU to do anything as moving and emotional as this. Much better to have the seniors speak to an empty Magness. Much better.

32 Degrees, Since Coors is a sponsor would think the Avs are a definite yes.
Since I did't know about DU, didn't answer before and I still don't know the answer.

Old Pio, you're such a softy.
Who knew that putting in your standing order for Crown would bring such emotion.
