Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Matt Donovan and Drew Shore among the first 15 players named to Team USA World Team.

Nice compliment for our Pios.

Drew has tough competition for a center role with Florida--2 #1 choices, Barkov and Bjugstad, are pretty much locks. Another #1 Huberdeau has been playing wing, but is actually center. (Think he won the NHL rookie award last year. ) Doesn't leave much room.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

Yeah but Derek Lassonde isn't a junior coach, Derek LaLonde is. Bad reporting there.
Maybe they meant another former assistant, "David Lalonde"  :p

CHN's Adam Wodon with his take on the cc opening.

He knows the difference between Lalonde and Lassonde:)
But he is including Gwoz as a top choice. Thought he had already said he wasn't interested in cc.

Where's that gif of clap-clap-clap, clap, clap when you want it?
Could we be going a year without an early departure?

Wow, Gwozdecky to CC... just sounds wrong. That's like.... a satanic catholic. A wingless bird. A pilot afraid to fly. With all due respect, I don't know if CC could afford him. I kind of have him pegged for a high-profile NCAA hockey school. I think this Tampa thing is just to see another side of the business, keep networking and keep him out of his wife's hair.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

It is good news about Leggs. As to Gwoz at CC, I don't see it. Michigan would seem far more likely. Red's getting a little long in the tooth.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVIII: On To Better Days!

2014-2015 NCHC composite schedule.

Denver plays six NCHC teams at home, but Neb-O does not come to Denver. Denver and Neb-O play just twice during the regular season.

Denver plays six NCHC teams on the road, but does not go to Western Michigan. Denver and Western Michigan play just twice during the regular season.

If you have a minute or two to spare go to nhl.com and take a look at video of the spot on the ice from which Stastny scored both his goals last night. It's precisely the same spot---he's standing about ten feet outside the crease directly to Ilya Bryzgalov's left. Stastny takes the same same shot both times and beats the goalie. The Wild would do well to have a forward stay close to Stastny when the Avs have the puck in their attacking zone. Yes, Stastny's first goal was a 6 on 5 and the Wild could not account for all the Avs on the ice. However, the game winner was a 5 on 5 situation and Stastny scored from his--presumably--preferred spot on the ice. I expect the Wild to make a defensive adjustment regarding Stastny's preference for occupying that space.

Strategically placed smudge pots might keep Stats from setting up shop.
