Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Great win Pios! No matter what happens tonight, pretty amazing that the team has managed to make this season exciting. Lots of compliments to go around, but that forechecking job by Arnold, Jacobson and Tabrum was just incredible on that second goal. Just before we scored, I turned to Mrs. Czech and said "somewhere Puck Swami is going nuts right now". He must have completely lost it after Arnold put it in. He used to sit behind me for several seasons and always loved a good forecheck. Mrs. Swami is probably still recovering ;-)

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Lax is on PioVision tied at 2-2 so far.

Currently going on in Minneapolis Women.s Swimming Championships. DU's Sam Corea won 100M Butterfly Consolation final, breaking the DU record by over 1 sec. She has qualified for the 200 M Backstroke final. Denver/Regis Jesuit/now Cal's Missy Franklin has won championships in 2 events so far.

Ready to cheer for DUHockey tonight!.Go DU!

Love the Swami musings. :-) RIP (from life on the boards). I can hear him yelling--"move your feet boys!"

Congratulations to Denver on winning the first NCHC Tournament. Your coach got a lot out of this team, but to win 4 elimination games in a row...very impressed. Good luck in the NCAAs...unless our teams are lucky enough to meet at the Frozen Four.

Wouldn't that be something! Especially if the gophs got bounced. Badgers too, but the Sioux have to give them some love for winning tonight

DU is playing on house money and nothing could be more fun.

I don't know what Monty, the other coaches, the Captains and Sam said or did before the playoffs began, but it obviously was the right thing.

Thanks. In these last four games they've shown a resilience and tenacity that was rarely on display during the regular season.

Such as Ty Loney playing with some effort! What a difference his energy has made this postseason.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Congrats to Denver on winning the Frozen Faceoff. Looks like your team is gelling and Brittain is a superb goaltender. Looking at projected brackets, I have no problem wishing you guys the luck to beat BC! Put it under the NCHC pride category. Haha. :)

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Didn't Maine used to have a highly regarded hockey program? 6X3!

(Ouch..! I still see that one in my nightmares, as well as the disallowed Maine goal in the 1st.)

I apologize for butting-in, but AQ's are my pet peeve in college hockey. I realize that they're not going away, but if they're going to be awarded at all, they ought to go the the RS champions of each conference, IMO.

Good luck to Monty and the Pioneers.

I can see that. Truly, I think they make the tournament fun, and I like that they go to the tournament champions. I think in college sports, every fanbase should have a chance to see their team go to the tournament, and AQs make that happen. Granted, a lot of them get stomped in the first round, but...

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

The tournaments are not going away, either, but I'd like to see the results of them simply being factored into the PW, and not negating it in any situation.

In principal I don't like them either. Nor shootouts. Nor the DH. But, under the present circumstances, I'm prepared to reconsider.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Go figure. Denver looks deader than a door nail at the end of the season and wins the conference tourney. Good on ya. With Brittain you have a chance against anyone.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Wow wow wow what a way to get into the tournament. Just like Montgomery should take the heat for getting swept by CC, he should get the praise for this remarkable post season run. Can't believe we made it in, and we go into the tournament with confidence as one of the nation's hottest teams, with great goaltending, and our forwards finally asserting themselves. The grit and tenacity that Loney, Larazza and Doremus showed was absolutely key, and turned Denver into a real well balanced hockey team. Awesome job by Sam with two huge saves in the last minute. Can't believe DU is in, and they preserve their remarkable string of 20 win seasons! Good day to be a Pioneer fan. I've got some confidence in this team, but the forwards have to keep doing what they're doing.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

Word on the street is that next game is BC. The guys are going to need absolutely everything if that turns out to be the case.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVII

I'm just glad DU has the type of dedicated fan base that doesn't prematurely bail on their season...

Oh, wait...What did I just say?

I could honestly rant and will not...well, just a teenytiny bit....

All the people who chose to not support our amazing Pioneer Hockey Program this season, for what ever lame reason, are just, well....LAME. Monty is every bit the coach we could ever need.

GO DU!!!
