Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

what is up with Makowski and his questionable ...

You can fill in whatever you want at the end of the sentence. Makowski can be a really good player, an I believe he has improved his speed on the ice, but he still ices the puck, is in the penalty box way too often, and slow to read the play. I would have expected more from him at this time. My consolations are that he is getting faster and is in the middle of the play and has his stick on the puck enough to: ice the puck, be penalized, and be consistently in the play.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Are there any CC fans left on the USCHO boards??

"World Arena North" didn't work out so well tonight for them.

At least this one. Don't know what happened to the rest nor much care. They may still be asleep after the complete crapper of a game on Friday night, there was a whole lot of bad hockey out of both teams.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Fuchs? Alright! And here thought Pigozzi was a fun name. I'd think that the next 3 or 4 years of recruiting will be really crucial for all teams, ,following the realignmemt , but even more so for DU, with a new Coach, and with Steve Miller leaving.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

News from Bridgeport, Scott Mayfield got his 1st professional goal Halloween eve. But here's the real news--in 12 games he only has 6 penalties.

Saturday was a much better hockey game (whether as a fan of either team or a neutral observer). Much faster and more composed. About as good as a game gets when scoreless through 2 periods.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Root Sports Games -Pioneer hockey coverage begins Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. MT, when DU hosts Western Michigan. The Pioneers' television schedule also includes matchups against Air Force (Nov. 23), Brown (Jan. 3), St. Cloud State (Jan. 10), North Dakota (Jan. 25) and Miami (March 7).

CBS Sports Games - UND (Jan. 24) and CC (Feb. 21)

Altitude - @CC (Feb. 22)

Most DU home games that are not televised are webcast for a fee on Pioneer Vision at www.denverpioneers.com.

Thanks du788 and everyone. The info is great although the shrinknig TV coverage is not. Same problem in Wisconsin.

Seems like DU's approach these days is to emphasize Pioneer Vision rather than to pay for the TV coverage (which I think I remember being told was part of the ROOT/FSRM deals).

Feels like CC is actually getting more coverage this year, I think they have 7 games this year, and usually it is just the at DU games and at UAA.

DU is still having about the same number of "games" on ROOT. It is just that they are spreading them out among hockey, men's b-ball and women's b-ball. This has resulted in more home hockey games on Pio Vision and less on ROOT.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

So.....no talk about Denver's one game winning streak? No talk about a second consecutive NCHC weekend series between two teams neither of which received so much as a single vote in this week's USCHO poll? No talk about Jason Zucker scoring the game winning goal well into double overtime the last time these teams met? As a Denver fan I'll say this: It's fortunate for the Pioneers that Dan DeKeyser is playing for the Red Wings and no longer for WMU.

Carry on.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

It wasn't hockey weather today as the temp peaked in my neighborhood--a mile from Magness Arena--peaked at seventy degrees. Forecast is calling for high temps near sixty each of the next three days. I hope the ice isn't too "slow."

Hockey weather here, never got out of the 30s today. Beau Bennett is healthy again and is playing for Pittsburgh on NBC Sports.

DeKuyser left early , Haar inelgible/removed and Mccarron never arrived.
ASaaG, had to go back and look up when we played WMU last--2010-11 NCAA regionals. Freshmen--Zucker, Bennett, Nick Shore, gone to the pros. Olzsewski gone to Division III. Mermis the Elder is .....
Brittain and Makowski played in that double OT win. First time and only time since 2005 we won in the NCAA Regionals.

The Great Brttain takes out the Big Lebowski--oops--Slubowski in goal
Both PK and PP belong to the Pios. Scoring defense, too.
But Offense, that's different. DU has to score more than 2 goals to win. WM Broncos averaging almost 3 goals per game, but giving up as many. Offense needs to take advantage.

And I have no idea how DU will play:o
BTW The score of that double OT win....................3-2:eek:

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Did you ever?? I know I sure haven't ever been able to predict

I assume you're referring to this year. And I agree. However, there was a time
(back before the invention of the electric light) when we knew how DU would play, every freakin' game.

Great report. And I love the reference to "Mermis the elder." Sounds like a Medieval king. Wonder what happened there. Chris says he saw him hanging with the scratches and heading to the locker room. That doesn't sound like a guy who hates DU or the Pioneers. I just miss having a guy from Alton on the team.
