Duluth and Tech went to the shoot out Saturday and I was surprised that it come down to "sudden death".

From the NCHC announcement:
Should the shootout be tied at the conclusion of the initial three shooters, a sudden- death round with one shooter from each team will commence until a winner is declared.

Whoever scores first wins:eek: Not an equal number of shooters from each team:eek:
Not the way they do it in the NHL is it?

Not good. Not good at all.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Per Coach Monty in his presser. Garrett Allen suffered a lower extremity in practice yesterday and will not make trip to Alaska this weekend. Evan Janssen is also out with a lower extremity injury this weekend and Zach Larraza is still injured. With Romig also out (NCAA), there are only 21 eligible players to travel. Since this is a tournament, I believe all three goalies can make the trip and dress, and all the remaining 18 skaters will make the trip including Wade Bennett who didn't dress last weekend.

Monty has 6 players in mind to choose the captains from.

I only heard part of it, but think he said the coaches have narrowed down to 6 who will wear letters this year.

Six seems like an awful lot to give letters to. I would think 3 or 4 at the most; 1 C and 2 or 3 A's. I'll have to listen to the replay later.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

Last weekend A's were worn by Makowski and Arnold, one night each, and LaLeggia, both nights. I would assume these would be three of the six.

I agree. think he was saying they would pick from the 6.

BTW Garrett Allen did not play last weekend.

I know and I thought he was the likely player to take Janssen's spot this weekend. From what I gather Nolan will stay at forward until at least Larraza and Romig are back.

FYI, Beau Bennett has a lower body injury and will not dress for the Pens tonight.

BTW, I went back and listened to the presser again and he said Garrett Arnold was out this weekend. Not sure if he meant Garrett Allen or Grant Arnold.

Well, it should be a powerful group. That brings up another tiny Jayism. Last week he made reference to the team singing the D-Rah after home sweeps. I thought that was something Gwoz instituted after road sweeps. Has the tradition been expanded?

Jimmy hasn’t learned all the names of his players yet. If you watch closely he calls them by their number not by their name.

Re: All Things Denver XXXVI

You're right. What did they say? I'm hoping it's just a matter of getting the thing installed properly. And they don't plan to do that in future. Ribbon boards can be useful during the anthem and pumping up the crowd. I can't imagine (admittedly very optimistic here) that DU would be cheesy enough not to utilize the technology to its fullest advantage. They've been cheesy enough to dismiss a mascot the students and alumni love, so I'm grasping at straws here.

All they said they still had some changes to do but they were going to pass my complaint along to facilities management. I used to have a connection, but no more.

That doesn't sound promising, does it? I've got no problem with advertising. But I would have a problem with them underutilizing a resource that's good for improving the game atmosphere.

Fascinatng Factoid of the Fortnight

DU's next 4 opponents are named after 3 myths and a drunken revel.

1.UAA Seawolves (don't call them seahawks they get really testy)

2.uaf Nanooks In Inuit mythology, Nanook (Inuktitut: ᓇᓄᖅ,[1] [na.'nuq],[2] lit. "Polar Bear")*
Just for you Old Pio, The word was popularized by Nanook of the North, the first feature-length documentary 1922.

3.Canisius Golden Griffins combo lion-eagle-god only knows

Finally the drunken revel--Niagara Purple Eagles smaller than a pink elephant, but they can fly
