I can't stop singing that song!! And there really are cobra charmers in the square!!
I would have posted this on the Let's Go DU blog, but I no longer feel welcome there.
Well, since he won't be in Denver, I don't think anyone in here cares where he is in the fall. And for the record, that's not sour grapes; you expect a couple of decommits when you lose a big name coach, but you don't really care what happens with those decommits either. At least, I don't.Rumors from a few posters on SS.com that Ausmus is going to be back in the Forks this fall...
I, for one, would hate to see him playing for the fka SiouxWell, since he won't be in Denver, I don't think anyone in here cares where he is in the fall. The blog that Coach Gwozdecky called DG "to thank LetsGoDU for all the fan support over the years"? Where the Coach mentioned that "there were many times he, the hockey program or the Athletic Department couldn't comment on an issue and the Blog provided a forum for clarity for the fans." That blog?
http://u18mensworlds.usahockey.com/news_article/show/248427?referrer_id=On the second U.S. power play of the opening period, Will Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wis.) launched a shot into the net at 7:34. Hudson Fasching (Burnsville, Minn.) set Butcher up with a backhand pass from the slot. Russia countered nine seconds later to cut the U.S. lead in half
DU is getting a Good prepared coach in Montgomery,he has taken the right trail in doing his trade and DU is in good hands,as I said before a win for Denver and a lost for Maine...interesting to see Gwozdecky name in for the Maine job...my question would he go to Maine for less Money then @ DU and knowing full well that he has a Rebuilding Project on his hands(2 yrs to get his system going/imo)..? I fear that Maine will factor in his age(59)and his Salary cost, like I said a win/win for DU and for Maine still alot of question-marks..Good Luck from a Maine Fan that figured we'd be the ones happy as h#ll. But "Thats Hockey".Greetings from Morocco!! I'm in a small town 4 hours south of Marrakech called Agdz. It is currently 95 degree!!, just a little different than Maine! Speaking of Maine, if UMaine could get Gwoz, it would be my perfect scenario. Montgomery goes to DU, Gwoz goes to Maine?, this would ease the pain of losing Gwoz for me. (and, it's all about me) I'm sure you all know what a stud Montgomery was as a player. It seems like he knows how to coach too. I think he was a good catch!!
Thanks for your analysis. I think with Montgomery having an east coast background, and no connections to DU, a lot of the DU fanbase wasn't sure what to make of the hire. But it gives me some assurance that many Maine fans would have liked to see him coach the Black Bears. I'm starting to feel good about this hire. Plus, now that we didn't hire Appert, I can do the "sour grapes" thing and take consolation in the fact that Appert was 81-122-26 at RPI vs. Montgomery's 45-11 record this year at Dubuque.DU is getting a Good prepared coach in Montgomery,he has taken the right trail in doing his trade and DU is in good hands,as I said before a win for Denver and a lost for Maine...interesting to see Gwozdecky name in for the Maine job...my question would he go to Maine for less Money then @ DU and knowing full well that he has a Rebuilding Project on his hands(2 yrs to get his system going/imo)..? AND when he wins in the USHL he will be putting together a game plan for Denver 2 days later(He's Driven/Has Passion). The Fighting Saints swept Muskegon and will play against the Youngstown Phantoms on Friday in the Eastern Conference finals. Glad to see even though he has big plans on the horizon, he is still concentrating on the moment.
It's that point where you really aren't playing for money, because you could probably make more sitting behind a desk somewhere, and you aren't playing to be a star, because that ship has sailed. If you were ever going to play in the NHL, you would have jumped at least to the ECHL out of the gate. But you're still plyaing. And as long as it's still fun, I think it's great. If you're playing in one of those leagues and it isn't fun, then you probably need to figure some stuff out.I used to call the Central Hockey League the dregs, but as usual i was confused, if not worng. It is still "living the dream" of playing and getting paid. While it wasn't hockey for me, i was lucky enough to be living my dream striding around in the woods with a pulaski and a shovel. Sometimes it sucked, but it was still da dream and i was a champion too. It took some drunken badgers at the last Frogurt Four in St. Paul to show me the erorr/confuziation of my thinking. Thatsa pretty humbling... stinkin badgers...
Jay Z sent to Houston today to play in the playoffs for the Aeros. He was getting minimal ice time in Minny. Colborne still on Leafs roster although he hasn't dressed since April 8th. The Marlies are in the AHL playoffs and he could re-join them for their playoff run. Nick Shore has yet to play for LA and doesn't have a number assigned to him on the roster on their website. His deal reportedly has him on the NHL roster for this remainder of this season. Bridgeport's season in the AHL is finished and it will be interesting to see if Matt Donovan gets the call to the playoff bound Islanders. Matt's teammate, Scott Mayfield, season is also over. Beau Bennett could well be on the way to winning a Stanley Cup for the talent laden Penguins. He has 14 points in 24 games and is +8. He has 5 points in the last 5 games. Chevy has backstopped the Binghamton Senators into the AHL playoffs. Mannnino is the back-up in Manchester who has also made the AHL playoffs. Brett Skinner (Grand Rapids) and William Wrenn (Texas) seasons continue in the AHL in the playoffs. John Lee and the San Antonio Rampage's season is over. Jussi Olkinoura (St. Johns) and Tyler Ruegsegger (Abbottsford) season are also over.
