Would the USHL Gamblers' LaLonde be a candidate? Won a couple of Cups here, used to coach there IIRC

I tried to find you in Manchester. Shocked right now. I enjoyed making the tournament almost every year. It keeps us relevant as a university.

This really is stunning. His daughter goes to BU, so maybe he can be Dave Quinn's Associate Head coach. #Quinning

The reaction from former players on Twitter was swift.
Current Toronto Maple Leafs forward Tyler Bozak said: "@DU_Hockey just took a big step backwards letting @CoachGwoz go! He was a true pioneer and one of the best coaches and people I know!" ...
Former defenseman Chris Butler, now with the Calgary Flames, said "Tough to see @DU_Pioneers lose one of the best college hockey coaches ever! Gwoz was a great teacher and coach. Thanks for everything!" ...
And former forward Paul Stastny, now with Colorado in the NHL, said, "Shocked/speechless by @DU_Pioneers decision to let Qwoz go! First class coach all the way, one of the best I've ever had! True pioneer!!!"

It will be interesting to see if Gwozdecky's firing has any effect in regard to non-senior class attrition. I am thinking specifically of Scott Mayfield and Zac Larraza. I think Mayfield's temperment is better suited to the professional game in which his aggressive play would not result in as many penalties as he was assessed this season. Where Larraza is concerned he advanced nicely from his freshman season to this season. Certainly he is not ready to play in Phoenix at present, but he might consider beginning his professional career rather than staying with the new coaching staff at Denver. I thought Larraza was among Denver's best forwards all season and by the end of the season was the team's BEST forward.

I've had some time to think about this now. Just a feeling of sadness, and the feeling of the end of an era. I do hope that DU's decision turns out to be smart in retrospect, and that it becomes more understandable as more facts are revealed. I do like our AD, and feel that she wouldn't fire Gwoz unless there was a good reason. But dammmnnn, we had some great memories of DU hockey under Gwoz, and it's just tough to understand the decision at this point. Even if we hire someone for less money than Gwoz was demanding, that coach is going to be under pressure to win at the NCAA tourney; once DU wins in the NCAA tourney, our new coach will be expecting Gwoz-level money within a few years. Like I said, just hoping and trusting that there was a good reason for this. In the meantime, much gratitude to Gwoz for representing DU with such class, and for providing life-long memories of championships in Boston and Columbus.

Sacco is likely out. at the end of the season, could Gwoz move over to the Pepsi Center?
