One possible alternative to the O.H. is to say "screw it" to the whole nonsense and adopt the Fighting Sioux as DU's new moniker.
Respectively submitted....et cetera, et cetera.
Having attended the DU-North Dakota series last month, I can report that try as it might to inseparably dislodge "Fighting Sioux" from the University of North Dakota, the NCAA has not, nor will it ever be successful in so doing. As they should, UND hockey partisans will always proclaim their team to be the Fighting Sioux.
Well we're not using it anymore, so have at it. But there might be a college sports governing body that might not approve.
I'm afraid you may be wrong about this. It will take several years, but after they adopt some new lame nickname, people will slowly let the Fighting Sioux heritage die. Like what DU has and is going through with Boone, it sucks.
DU did put up Sunday's highlights on YouTube but obviously that goal didn't make the cut. Nobody has it on video?
An historical note (which has no bearing on the merits of your suggestion): The Archies was not a "group," just studio musicians, sort of like The Village People or Milli Vanilli.
I'm a big believer in "Grassroots Projects."
USCHO, LetsGoDU, Boone mascot, t-shirt giveaways, pre-game events, building/supporting the student section, 50/50 Raffles, hockey roadtrips, ect. are all examples of things that have built PioNation into what it is today. Volunteer efforts that have impacted the university culture.
Writing emails to the Alumni Association isn't going to sway anyone's opinion over at DU, but it may convince the administration to work a lot harder to find a WIN/WIN solution to this mess they've created. And no matter what side of the issue you're on, that's a good thing.
The mascot project has been yanked out of the hands of the Student Task Force and handed over to the DU Marketing & Communications Department to see if they can get the project moving forward.
Now DU has sent the email to the alumni to presumably "test the temperature of the water." The choice is clear, reply to the email and voice your opinion, or stick your head in the sand and let them come up with their "Flub-A-Dub."
Whatever mascot is selected, Coombe still needs buy-in from Athletics and then he'll need it run it by the Board of Trustees. So if they come up with something stupid, its going to end up making him look bad.I think Santa prefers sugar cookies and he's drinking 2% these days.

So anyone in the administration who thought this process was going to be easy was very niave
Final:
Maryland Twerps 62
Denver Pioneers 52
Give Men's BB kudos for the season/ If they had only made it to the semis, there was a good chance Bacher would be there on the UVA sideFinal:

I found one scenario where they are out, and it requires Union, Connecticut, Providence, Wisconsin, and Michigan to win the conference tournaments. Interestingly enough, switching out CC for Wisconsin but leaving the rest of the conference winners the same leaves DU in as the 16 seed,

Only regret about North Dakota losing is I wish we were the ones to do it. #bittersweet
With all due respect to these fine established or up-and-coming programs, we need one of you (and perhaps Ohio State) to bow out today or tomorrow. Thank you in advance for your assistance. If any Pioneer fans/alumni are already planning to travel to Pittsburgh this year, I'll be there regardless of the FF participants. My seats are currently nosebleed (section 209)...hope to see some of you there!
Nice article on Larkin Jacobson. Some good quotes from his stepfather, Ruslan Fedotenko, winner of 2 Stanley Cups.
